Patty Smyth

I really got into Patty Smyth in the early 1980's.  I think that she's around my age (more or less) and liked her sound in the group Scandal.  I had that EP when it came out.  I went and got Warrior when it came out.

I was surprised and not surprised when she had her solo album out in 1987.  I heard that she was disappointed in how it came out later on and I noticed that it was not turned into a CD like some of the earlier Scandal material.  I did get the self-titled album when it came out in 1992.  I played it over and over.

She kind of fell out of performing a little bit after that.  That was about the time that she hooked up with John McEnroe.

I've gotten hooked on several female singers whose musical careers seemed to eventually flounder.  I have been disapointed that Susanna Hoffs didn't go more solo albums after leaving The Bangles.  I think that I heard that they eventually got back together, but I never found out if they ever recorded any new material.

Patty Smyth has a website at http://www.plan.org/psfc/.

Update: Scandal appeared on XM Radio channel 8 on 8/30 around 6pm CT and "took over the channel".  Some Scandal material, but they played a lot of music that they found interesting either before or during their short career.
