Somali regional council dismisses four local officials Oct 29,

The deputy administrator of Somali National Regional State has said that the regional council has dismissed four zonal administration chairmen for not discharging their duties properly, and has appointed others in their places.

Mr Riyale Ahmad, the deputy administrator, said that the chairmen of Gode, Afder and Jijiga zonal administrations were dismissed from their posts after they were expelled from the [Somali state] national council's executive committee at the second extraordinary meeting of the regional council, and as a result, could not continue being chairmen of their zones.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Shinile zonal administration was dismissed from his post after it was discovered he was not discharging his duties properly.

The council, in its meeting yesterday, appointed new chairmen for Gode, Afder, Jijiga, Shinile and Fik zones, the Ethiopian News Agency reported, quoting the deputy administrator of the region.
