The salt water takes two to three days to solidify under the sun and the inhabitants have been producing salt in traditional ways, the Ethiopian News Agency reported today.
The report said that the Ethiopian Standardization Authority has conducted a study on the substance and proved that it contains 96 percent sodium chloride including calcium and magnesium.
Although the salt water has no iodine, the United Nations Children's Fund has promised to donate machineries that will enable to iodize the salt deposit in the areas, the report said.
