Policy #1 - Assignment Recommendations
Throughout the year, the HDSRA DC will make recommendations to the various
assignors regarding the abilities of our members to officiate at various
levels. The HDSRA itself does not normally make these assignments but is
often consulted for advice from the various assignors.
This will include:
1. Recommendations to the NSSL regarding officials who are capable of
officiating at various levels.
2. Recommendations to the CISL regarding officials who are capable of
officiating at various levels.
3. Recommendations to the local senior leagues regarding officials who are
capable of officiating.
4. Recommendations to all other local leagues and tournaments.
5. Recommendations to the SNS RDC, Halifax District or other appointed authority
with regard to assignments for Provincial Championships.
Recommendations will be based on all of the following:
1. Appropriate registration status.
2. Completion of the required spring refresher courses.
3. Fitness testing participation and results.
4. Feedback from the mentoring and assessment program.
5. Feedback from senior members of the HDSRA.
6. Feedback from assignors.
7. Contributions made to the HDSRA.
Specifically, for recommendations for assignment to Provincial Championships,
the following additional criteria will be used:
1. Officials must have been active at the level they are being recommended
for (or higher) during the season; and,
2. Officials must be specifically recommended to the HDSRA DC by:
a. The HDSRA mentoring program; or,
b. The HDSRA assessment program; or,
c. Senior members of the HDSRA; or,
d. Any Provincial Assessor or Instructor
These recommendations will be actively sought by the HDSRA DC at the
appropriate point in the season. Recommendations for assignments to Provincial
Championships will be made by the HDSRA DC within the first week of August or as
soon as the assigning authority can be identified.
