REPORT:-

Back to league business this afternoon following a good performance with a disappointing result in our last match in the AFC Cup. Today the players were praised for that performance and reminded that if we continue to display the same level of performance in our remaining league matches then there is no reason why we can not start to quickly climb up the table. A couple of changes were made to the starting line up with G.Woods coming in for Merchant and N.Milne for Shaw. We moved Fulton into sweeper N.Milne into right back alongside Robertson and Michie. Andrews was in goal. The midfield was formed by Keith, E.Milne, Longmuir and Morgan and the Woods brothers were leading the line. Subs were Sim, Murdoch, Graham, Wood and Merchant. The opening period was a bit kick and rush and we tended to give the ball away at crucial moments. A feature of the opening 15 mins was Andrews kick outs which were consistently finding the oppositions box. Bankheads keeper did not look too clever but credit also goes to him for his kick outs which were also huge. Michie received a card when he was ‘DavidWinnied’, the big man was given a 15 yard start over 20 yards but soundly beaten in the race! His only option was to foul his man and the refs only option was to book him. We went in front when E.Milne turned the ball in after lead up work from G.Woods. On the 35min mark Longmuir threaded through a neat pass for M.Woods who fired us two up. (H.T.2-0) M.Woods was forced off with a twisted knee and replaced by Graham. Halli were to dominate this half and we scored a 3rd in 55. Andrews sent a long kick forward, E.Milne headed on and G.Woods lobbed home. We then went onto create enough chances to have run up a cricket score, however our finishing was atrocious on numerous occasions, in truth we should have scored another 4 or 5 over what ended up as the final score line. We did finally score again when skipper Keith flicked home following a Longmuir throw in. In 75 G.Woods set off on a powerful run picking up on the halfway line and evading 3 or 4 opponents. As he left them in his wake we awaited a storming finish only to see a sliced shot however Graham had followed up to slide it home. Keith was moved into sweeper for the closing stages and he never put a foot wrong as he looked very accomplished in his new role. Morgan produced a howler in front of goal then N.Milne had two opportunities to score without success. G.Woods showed him how when he riffled in our 6th to complete the demolition.(F.T6-0) A good result we no doubt would have taken 6-0 before we started. Unfortunately we missed many more than we scored but on a plus we did at least create these many opportunities. Topman accolade goes to G.Woods typified by a great run to set up our 5th goal.
