REPORT:-

The axe swung for this evenings match following Mondays debacle. A fifteen man squad was in attendance as we prepared to face another country side in the shape of Torphins. Following a pitiful display on Monday not one player could have felt hard done by if he had been left out of the starting eleven tonight, apart of course from Bob England who had not featured. He got his chance tonight as he was named at left back. Youngster Grant Fisken was there to help us out in the absence of regular custodians Andrews and Michie. Manager Marlow scythed through the side as he tried to put together a team to get us back on the rails. The line up sent out was Fisken, Sim, Shaw, Robertson, England, Keith, E.Milne, Morgan, M.Woods, G.Woods and Wood. Subs were N.Milne, Graham, Merchant Marlow and the late arrival Andrews. Torphins looked no great shakes as play commenced and it was Halliburton who went on to create the lions share of scoring opportunities. However it is goals that count, not chances created and the visitors took the lead in 20 mins. Sim, Keith and Morgan were all out gunned wide right and a good ball into the middle was collected and deposited into our net with far too much ease. G.Woods put us level with a powerful header straight from a corner on the half hour. Morgan got involved in a vendetta and was booked for a foul 30 yards from our goal. The kick, taken in 40 mins, produced a goal. A neat chip forward was headed past Fisken who had advanced from his goal, with little hope of claiming the ball. (H.T1-2) We had been creating plenty of chances and so felt confident that we could get back into this match. We did in fact enjoy the bulk of play throughout the second half without putting their keeper under too much pressure. England had our hearts in our mouths when he sliced a clearance wildly over his own bar. Moments later Fisken miskicked and hit his own post! Morgan took a sore one on the jaw but resumed prior to Merchant replacing England. Wood moving into the full back berth. With 5 mins left Graham came on for Sim. Before the sub had even got a touch we were level. We had been awarded a free kick out on the right and with the clock ticking down Morgan tried his luck with a low driven cross cum shot. The ball found its way into the visitors net despite going through a number of players from both sides. (F.T.2-2) It must be said that yet again tonight we did not produce a great performance, however credit to the lads for keeping at it. At least we stopped the rot, this was only our 3 rd draw in 18 league games. Hallitopman tonight goes to Graeme Woods for a none stop display.
