REPORT:-

Match day number 5 in the league as we prepared to face country side Insch in our 6th match of the season. To date our record has been acceptable given that over the last four games we have put together an unbeaten run inside 90minutes. This afternoon we had the opportunity to leapfrog our opponents in the table as they sat one place above us and two points in front prior to kick off. The injury picked up by Tony Morgan has been diagnosed as medial ligament damage and the midfielder will be out of action for at best 4 weeks. We had Fulton and Graham available this afternoon and both of them were put back into the starting eleven. Andrews failed to appear and so Michie was in goal behind Fulton, Robertson, Shaw and N.Milne. The midfield was formed by N.Wood, Longmuir, Keith and M.Woods.Up front were G.Woods and Graham. The bench was only partly filled by Sim, England and Marlow. Just as we were making our way onto the park Sim remarked that he had an problem with an ingrowing toe nail, however he felt sure he could run it off! We got off to the perfect start with a controversial opener. A longmuir throw in was carried into the net by G.Woods as his control was all to cock. Luck was with us as the ref awarded a goal, this despite Graemes earsplitting cries of "Oh shit". In 15 minutes we escaped a horror moment when Robertson and Michie got onto different wave lengths and the ball was gifted to an Insch man inside our box. With Michie at this point in no mans land Robertson did well to get back and hook the ball off the line. In half an hour we had the ball in the net again following a corner however this time the ref disallowed it because of an infringement by G.Woods. A neat interchange involving Longmuir and Graham set up a chance for G.Woods but the ball was just too high for him and he failed to make proper contact. (H.T.1-0) Yet again we got off to a good start when in 55 mins G.Woods, who had failed to find the net previously this season, scored his second when he did well to control in the box and fire into the net. Looking good at this point, however we went on the back foot and allowed Insch back into it when G.Woods gave the ball away on the half way line. The ball was moved forward quickly and Michie was given no chance. The nerves were now emerging within our rearguard and we were looking likely to leak another goal as the visitors sensed the opportunity to level. True to form they did just that when we again backed off to let them into score. With Longmuir and G.Woods in particular surging on we got back in front. Shaw showed bucket loads of skill to beat two opponents before finding Robertson, he picked out G.Woods who in turn slipped it to N.Wood. The wee man lobbed us in front. G.Woods then went down with a cut below the eye but with only 2 mins remaining he decided to remain in the action. Some 2 mins they turned out to be as Insch not only levelled the score again, they went onto win 3-5!!!! Non existent marking at a free kick left an unmarked substitute to head home 3-3. A corner into the near post was controlled and chipped goalwards and Michie threw it into the net a little nudge from an attacker should not have put him off that much. Then Shaw and Robertson were out paced and left grounded as Insch went nap off Michies arse!(F.T.3-5) SHAMBLES!!!
