Halliday Community
Gateway to Lake Sakakawea
The town of Halliday was settled in the early 1900's by rugged and determined pioneers. We are thankful for their "grit" to remain and weather life's storms, so that those of us who now live, work and play in this community can enjoy the fruits of their hard labor and commitment.
Halliday is known as the "Gateway to Lake Sakakakwea", the largest man-made lake in the United States. Charging Eagle Bay (Mossett Bay) is the place to go for boating, fishing, camping, picnics, history or for just plain fun
We have a beautiful shaded city park for camping. It also has playground and picnic facilities.
Our community is 13 miles from Twin Buttes, home of the last fluent speaker of the Mandan language. It is home to descendants of the people who helped Lewis and Clark during their stay in North Dakota.
The Halliday Community offers solitude from the hustle-bustle of urban living. Come and experience the peace and quiet of small town living in our area.
We have a K-12 public school that provides top quality education. We also have a bank, a grocery store, post office, meat market, motel, gas station, repair and antiques shop, craft shop, clinic, KMM Manufacturing and others.
History, culture, scenery, and legends are notable to our area. The Halliday Community is where descendants of the early pioneers live, work and play. The tradition of hard work, determination and and love of life lives on in us.
