Rice...whats the point?

So while I was home sick I looked around my house for something to eat, and decided to make minute rice. Seemed easy enough. I even got tricky and threw in some Osem soup powder for flavour. While I was waiting the whole five minutes for my food to be ready, I got to thinking. By now you probably know its a bad thing when I think...

When you make rice, think of all the waste. I think a couple rice kernels (what are they called?) escaped while I was pouring into the pot, more got stuck at the bottom of the box, quite a few got stuck in the bowl when I was done eating, and even more in the spoon I used to move the rice from the pot to the bowl. And think of how much rice must be wasted at the factories! I'd say at least 10% of rice never actually enters the human body. Now where do these problems come from? Obviously, some has to do with the properties of rice. Rice absorbs water, and therefore adheres to almost anything.

More obviously, the small size of rice contributes to this problem as well. I therefore propose to grow spaghetti instead of rice. Even though it also absorbs large quantities of water and therefore sticks to stuff, I'm sure the large size would cause much less loss. We could end the world's hunger problems, simply by growing a different food! And imagine the beauty of spaghetti fields, swaying in the wind, on a calm fall day....
