Pakistan means Pureland.

This name was suggested by Rehmat Ali Chodhri.

The idea to create autonomous region for British India's Muslim within Indian boundries was given by Allama Sir Dr Muhammad Iqbal Shaikh (Lahori)

(d.1938) (National Poet of Pakistan)

This idea was later changed by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinah (d.1948) (Father of the Nation) to create seperate nation (Pakistan) for British India's Muslim.
