10 minute game
Date: July 20, 2004
I blew two winning positions!
First, 44.Bd6 and Black's knight is coralled. Ensuing line would likely be 44...a5 45.e7 Nxe7 46.Bxe7 a4 47.Ke4 a3 48.Bxa3 Kxa3 49.Ke5 Kb3 50.Kf6 Kc4 51.Kg7 Kd4 52.Kxh7 Ke4 53.Kxg6 Kxf4 54.Kf6 and Black cannot stop the passed pawn.
Second, the painfully-obvious-yet-I-didn't-see-it-move of 52.Bxa3 is also winning! (53.Bc1 would follow.) By this part of the game, we both had under a minute left, so I suppose time factor played a major role in our errors (he, leaving the pawn unprotected; me, not taking it).
As for Phil, 51...a2 and I believe it's a draw. 52.Bg7 Kd5 53.Kf7 Ke4 54.Ba1 Kf5 55.Kg7 Kxg5 56.Kxh7 draw.
Overall it was still a very good game, though.
