Five minute game
Opening: "French: Tarrasch, Closed Variation"
This was the first of two games.
This was a very good game. While White wasted moves trying to get his King into play, I was busy pushing my pawns toward Queendom.
I don't believe that there was any way for White to prevent me from promoting one of my pawns. 40.Bf1 (White's best move, in my opinion) would have resulted in 40...Nc7!, protecting both of my pawns as well as blocking his passed pawn! The moves would probably have been 40.Bf1 Nc7! 41.Kc3 Kf4 42.Kd4 Kf3 43.Ke5 g2 44.Bxg2 Kxg2 45.Kd6 Na6 46.Kxd5 Kf3 47.Kd6 Ke4 48.c7 Nxc7 49.Kc6 b5 50.Kb4 Kd4 51.Kb3 Nd4 52.Kb2 Kc4 and White cannot stop the pawn nor draw because of the Knight's tempo (if needed).
