The Syracuse Hambletonians Foundation Inc.
is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation,
which runs SIMPLE (Special Interest Mentorship Program and
Learning Experience), a program which was started by Syracuse, New York,
public high school teachers, offering " at-risk " students opportunities to
work with horses, establish mentoring relationships with adults, and expand
their horizons.
Since the early
1990's
we have been bringing kids and
horses together
and have witnessed amazing CHANGES IN KIDS, who nearly
always seem to put their best foot forward in GENTLENESS INSTEAD OF
VIOLENCE, CARING INSTEAD OF HARDNESS, QUIET INSTEAD OF LOUDNESS.
Over 95% of participating students
have remained in school, compared to a 60-70%
DROPOUT RATE at the schools they attend. Operating without any government
funding, we always welcome - and need - donations. Having discovered a
process which WORKS to support at-risk youth, we invite others - especially
TEACHERS - to contact us to implement our SIMPLE model.
