It's easy to get into botany - like everything else, it just takes a bit of practice.
First of all, get someone who knows a little more than you to show you some plants. Learn each plant's name, and remember its characteristics. You'll soon learn lots of them!
NEVER PICK PLANTS. Always take the book to the plant, not the plant to the book. If you're not sure about your identification, take note of the plant's exact position and come back with someone who can help.
For fun, we have given each plant in this study a 'spotter's score' - more points for plants that are less common or hard to find. You'll find the score on each plant's page.
So get on out there, use your eyes, be patient - and please WATCH WHERE YOU PUT YOUR FEET !
