| Tall grass, up to over 1m. Stem usually downy at leaf-junctions. Leaves flat. Flowerhead with flowers alternating up opposite sides of stem, and with long, hairy bristles (awns); June-August. Can be found in woods behind car-park wall. Spotters' score: 7 ref: p.78/2
