| Tall grass, up to 1m, with long runners. Leaves flat. Flowerhead apprearing shiny, with single greenish to purplish flowers on branches arranged in whorls, spreading in flower but contracted in fruit; June-August. Common in meadows and on meadow-edges. Spotters' score: 6 ref: p.92/6
