Forms clumps. Stems low to medium, up to 60cm. Leaves 2-3mm wide, curved and flattened, often half lying on the ground. Flowerheads 1 or 2, each with 5-15 brown flowers; May-July. Fruit brown, egg-shaped, narrowing abruptly to a small 'beak'. Common in meadow: likes damp, well-trodden ground. Spotters' score: 4 ref: p.178/4
