Lords and Ladies (Arum maculatum)
Low, short and hairless. Leaves bluntly arrow-shaped, dark green, and sometimes dark-spotted, appearing from January onwards. Flowerhead is a tall, papery, pale green hooded 'wrap', concealing tiny flowers and a conspicuous, purple, finger-like spike; April-May. Fruit is more obvious - a cluster of bright red-orange berries.

One patch found so far in woods.
