| Medium grass, up to 60cm but usually shorter. Leaves of non-flowering shoots are thread-like, those on flowering stems flat, often greyish or bluish, the leaf-sheaths completely closed when young. Flowerhead loosely bunched or spreading, sometimes tinged greyish or purplish; May-June. Here and there on meadows and borders. Spotters' score: 7 ref: p.48/3
