Smooth Meadow-grass (Poa pratensis)
Medium grass, up to 50cm, with long, creeping underground stems (rhizomes). Leaves bright green, flat or grooved, 2-3mm wide, fairly stiff, and with smooth sheaths. Flowerhead narrowly triangular in outline, with the lower branches grouped 3 to 5; April-June.

Common component in our meadows.
