Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus)
Spreading tree up to 30m tall, with smooth grey bark, flaking when old. Leaves 5-lobed to about halfway, well toothed, on reddish stalks. Flowers in hanging clusters; May. Fruit a pair of keys, with wings diverging at right-angles.

Very common tree, especially along north margin of both meadows.
