White Clover (Trifolium repens)
Creeping, more or less hairless, stems rooting at leaf-junctions. Leaves in threes, leaflets rounded and usually with a whitish mark. Flowerheads round, long-stalked, 15-30mm; flowers white, pink, or rarely purple, turning brown, scented; May-October.

Another common plant which prefers short grass.
