Starting the new season with Becca and Adam back from abroad, though we have lost Josh to Australia.  We have several new people that thus far seem to be enthusiastic and pretty cool, which is good.  More updates as they are warranted.

After some initial confusion, the meet on Sunday went very well.  There were about twice as many people there than expected, so it was a little chaotic, but overall it was a success.

First of all, happy New Year, New Semester, New... uh... whatever may be new...
There isn't much fencing-related news to post, but this is just to ensure anyone checking out the site that we haven't totally died again over here at Hamilton.  Frost-bite, maybe, but not death.  At practice today, we actually had everyone there who was expected, and everyone worked hard and was pushed hard, which is the way it should be.  Hopefully there will be news about meets here soon.

This weekend being parents' weekend, we had a little practice on Saturday, so that people who otherwise probably wouldn't be able to see their kids fence would have a chance.  Participating fencers included Erica, Becca, Becky, Alex, Caryn, and Michael.  Parents seemed to enjoy it, and it was nice to have practice in the middle of Saturday.  It is also always interesting to meet friends' parents, especially when they are in a good mood (ie, they get to see their kids make use of the tuition money).

Last weekend there was a meet in Binghamton.  After several delays, we arrived with seven minutes to register two foil teams.  They were named Instant Pleasure and I'm So Vain (which resulted in directors having to say things such as "I'm waiting for Instant Pleasure").   There were twelve foil teams overall, including teams from Rochester, Binghamton, Colgate, and Lehigh.  After the pools, I'm So Vain placed 7th and Instant Pleasure placed 8th.  Instant pleasure (which included Evan Adkins, Josh Newman, Cait Pavelle, and Benjamin Lee) made it to the second round of DEs, which isn't too shabby.  I'm So Vain (consisting of Alex Stamoulis, Michael Blasie, Adam Kinney, and Erica Otlowski) was eliminated by Colgate in the first round of DEs.  Overall, Evan and Alex fenced very well for their first meet.  Josh fenced phenomenally, considering his state.  Considering his stance as an epeeist, Michael did very well his first competitve foil tournament.  Overall, the meet went fairly well, even with certain setbacks.

Hi!  Welcome to the updates page of the Hamilton College Fencing Club.  This is where we'll try to remember to post updates.  Currently, things are going fairly well for us.  Check out the roster page for the list of new (and returning) fencers.  I think we have a good, dedicated crew this year.  Today everyone will get their equipment.
There won't be any meets here this semester because we were unable to reserve the gym due to winter sports.  However, we will be having two next semester unless something goes wrong.
This is probably going to be the only post here for a while, since I'm sure no one wants to read about every little event at practice.  Keep checking back though for info on meets!

After no one apparently touching this page for 4 years, we are going to try to update it slightly more often.  Currently, we have no meets scheduled for here at Hamilton College, but are planning two for next semester.  While our beloved Becca is in France for the year, captaining will be done by Erica to the best of her ability.  We have no real sabre squad at the moment, we however do have a few sabreists for meets.  We still currently practice Monday through Thursday from 4-6pm.  Hopefully, more news to follow soon.
