Background

During the 1999 – 2000 school year, Hamilton implemented a State of California Digital High School (DHS) Grant program. The first year of the program provided $ 894,000 in matching funds to install computer hardware and software on campus.

This school year, Hamilton will implement the Electronic Portfolio(EP) component that was developed by faculty members during the summer.   Please note that a committee of Hamilton faculty members wrote the DHS plan during the 1998 – 1999 school year.

Electronic Portfolio Program

Objectives

One of the Hamilton DHS program objectives is to have all students be proficient in the use of common computer technology.  The EP program is one strategy outlined in the Hamilton DHS program that is designed to meet this objective.

EP Program Goals

Beginning in each student’s first year at Hamilton, s/he will store examples of his/her work on an electronic folder.   Students will make additions to the folder each year thereafter until s/he graduates.  The electronic folder will be stored on one of the Hamilton computer servers.

A fully implemented EP program will see all students using instructional technology in all of their classes during their time at Hamilton.  In addition to examples of student work, each student’s electronic folder will include his/her four-year academic plan.

Please note that the items listed below are minimum requirements.  Faculty may decide by school and/or department to include additional examples of class work on their students’ electronic folders.
