After the Fast

Saturday, October 18, 2008

On the day sixteen I lost another 2 pounds (0.91 kilos) to be 233 pounds (105.9 kilos) which meant that I was not obese anymore.

However that day I felt really bad, and I had decided to end my fast. I planned to have only a glass of orange juice mixed with water for that day. That is how it started, but within 30 minutes I was devouring everything in sight. This pretty much continued through out the day and for the next couple of days. I had quickly gained back 15 out of 31 pounds (6.8 out 14.1 kilos) of that I had lost. Then I had lost 5 ponds (2.3 kilos) to make it a net gain of 10 pounds (4.5 kilos) since the end of fast. I have been slowly gaining weight.

After the fast, I also had the worst constipation for days. It was really painful.

The original reason why I went for a fast was to deal with anxiety and headaches. I was less anxious during fast, but after the fast my anxiety and headaches came back. My anxiety may even be stronger since my eating is not 100% under control.

People on the net told me that because of my fast I have less toxins in my body. I don't know if that is true. I do not feel any better. I know that eating less makes you healthier and makes you live longer, and that makes me feel a bit better.

I was supposed to exercise after the fast to rebuild my muscles, but due to anxiety that has never materialized.

Still fasting was a positive experience. It was an interesting journey into my limits. If I ever end up building muscle, I would like to do it again next summer. I would also like to fast longer at that time as well. Maybe I will make this a yearly thing.

I am a bit leaner now and this anxiety that I am having is not really connected to the fast, but a separate issue all together. So over all it is a positive experience.
