Beacon Signals
Beacons are continuously transmitted carrier waves (modulated or unmodulated)
along with
identification at regular intervals. Beacons can be directional or
non directional, used for navigational purpose mainly in maritime and aviation
fields (Now it's GPS !), as a frequency standard and a guide to observe
the band opening (propagation) condition. An operator can easily judge
the opening of the radio propagation to a particular region by monitoring
the existence and strength of the beacon signals.
