so let's recap this week's events on Survivor. not that Survivor. this Survivor.

so long to Mechagodzilla After losing the Karaoke Immunity Challenge, Mechagodzilla was booted in the nearly unanimous decision of his Islandmates. the key to his downfall was probably his failure to establish a Lizard Alliance with the other reptilian contestants (some may point to the fact that Mechagodzilla isn't technically a reptile, but rather a mechanized simulacrum of a reptile as the largest obstacle to the Lizard Alliance).

for more details on this week's events, visit the Survivor: Monster Island website.

today, i get to spend the day opening envelopes and sorting faxes.

i think i'm a little overqualified for my current position.

here's a little bio for Northstar, Marvel Comics' first openly gay superhero. for one issue. of the original Alpha Flight series. which means he's Canadian. from what i can tell, he didn't make it into the new Alpha Flight, which began publishing last summer, but i did stumble across some news that he joined/will join the X-Men briefly this month (and because today's the 29th, it's probably already happened) to help fight Magneto because most of the other X-Men are off doing something else. lazy bums.

this brings back too many terrible memories of abused adolescence and innocence ripped away. sometimes, though, you have to stand up and say, "I am no longer a victim. I am a survivor."

i heard on the radio this morning that VH1 viewers chose the greatest dance song of all time. their choice: Living La Vida Loca.

bleh. i used to think those people had taste.

an Elseworldsesque thing with a Stalinist Superman is the type of thing that, though the idea catches my interest, i wouldn't make an effort to find and read. until i read that Pat Buchanan is disgusted by it. now i must read it.

send a photocopy of your ass to Sylvester Stallone's mom (along with a check for $100) and she'll tell your fortune.

there's something about using an actual sports term in conversation that leaves a terrible taste in my mouth.

this Survivor is much more interesting than the one currently showing. i'd watch any show that bills itself as a "Machiavellian game of wits and atomic breath."

eww. children are nasty little buggers anyway, so why would you want to suck their feet?
[ha! after some badly needed coffee-dissolved-in-a-cup-of-sugar-&-cream, i was able to work that link into a sentence. i need to get more sleep]

"I think their plan is to do Aliens Vs. Predator. And I'd just assume not be in that, although I'm sure I could whoop them both." Jimmy!

Sigourney Weaver, when asked about a possible fifth 'Alien' movie.

a corollary: who'd win in a fight: Ripley or Rocky?

and would my use of the word corollary be an example of catachresis? (i love a man with an extensive vocabulary. if i didn't already have a crush on Jimmy Bond (at right), i'd be crushing on Dean right now)

there's a particular restaurant i dined at often whenever visiting the St Louis area. the last time i ate there with my best mate Brian, he took a bite of his meal and immediately spat it out. the meat was rancid. we stopped going there.

i found out this weekend that the place has been closed down for serving puddy tat. it's not enough that i have to worry about Daft Cow Disease, but also that the subjects of "$50 Reward If Found" posters may have become several of my $6.95 dinner entres.
