STINSON - William Henry Harrison Stinson was born March 11, 1840 in Clinton Co., Kentucky to William and Mary (WESTMORELAND) Stinson. Although he was named for his father and for William Henry Harrison, the 9th President of the United States, he usually was known simply as Henry Stinson. Henry was in the Thirteenth Kentucky Cavalry - Company D, U.S.A., during the Civil War. On Sept. 5, 1861 he married Lavina RIGNEY in Wayne Co., Kentucky. Their children were named William A., Mary Elizabeth, Martha Ellot, Josephine "Josie" and Rhoda A. Stinson. After Lavina died in 1889 Henry married Elizabeth (MORRISON) WRIGHT, widow of John H. Wright. The picture was taken of Henry about 1900 when he visited two married daughters in Collin Co., Texas who had migrated there from KY with their husbands. The daughters he visited were Mary Elizabeth, wife of General Sheridan DAVIS, and Martha Ellot, wife of George Washington BROWN. Henry died on April 6, 1907 and is buried with his first wife and their son at Davis Chapel Cemetery, Clinton Co., KY.
