Analysis for Northfield Park

Race #1

#2 Francis Albert Won easily last out and remains in class. This one is blessed with gate speed and seems to have improved on stamina in recent weeks. Should be considered armed and ready for this race.
#1 Directly West Is loaded with speed and does not like to sit in a hole. Miller will have him leaving hard and will likely try to cut the mile. He has good natural speed and will likely last a long time.
#5 Scootin Photon Is the best of the rest. He drops in class tonight for the nation's leading win trainer and gets Case back in the bike. He hasn't raced too well in recent starts, but the drop may be enough.

Race #2

#4 Nickelaurean Put the trotting hobbles on and was able to stay flat. This driver/trainer knows how to get trotters right and despite the 6 months off, he looks to be a good play against this week group.
#8 Here She Comes Loves to get checks and with Case in the bike should be in position. In recent starts she has lacked the heart to win, but is always close and deserves respect.
#9 Fran's Pride Broke at the word "go" last week and got back into it 2nd over only to flatten out on the last turn. Prior to that she was a nice even 4th in a needed start. Look for an improvement tonight.

Race #3

#3 Blue Rock Keena Ships in from PA where she was facing tougher. She appears to have good early foot and with the driver change to Hawk will likely be out and going early. The field is weak and she can last a long time (though Panteleano did opt for the #2 in here)
#4 Gray Watch Was leaving last week only to have a horse break and take up right in front of her. She had steadily been on the improve before that and this beaten favorite may be over looked tonight.
#1 Next Wave Has speed and draws the rail, but has yet to have a response in the deep stretch. She will be the post time favorite, but does not deserve the honor. The lack of depth, coupled with her speed and the rail make her playable underneath.

Race #4

#2 Master Jate Drops back down to the level where he last won. He has good gate speed and if the #1 lets him go in good shape he should be able to last on the front end.
#1 Arthur Hanover Has a lot of early speed and will look to secure the 2 hole behind the top pick. He will likely be over looked at the windows, but is in good shape and is a must use in gimmick play.
#5 Master Dreamer Was parked the mile against a strong winner last week, his first start for this trainer. He has a good late kick and if the other top picks battle it out, he will pass then all in the lane.
#9 KD's Bret Dropped to a level below that which he was claimed at and responded with a strong win. His game is the front and with other speed and starting int he second tier he may not be able to get the front.

Race #5

#6 Bright Dream A Made his US debut last week and was never in position to challenge. He did pace a final half in 57.3 and with that tightner under his belt should be ready to win tonight.
#3 Road To Success Is a speedball that has been parked in all recent starts. He drops one level tonight and should be able to make the front. If he gets far enough of the top pick he may be able to pull off the upset.
#1 Turner Broke last week but still paced a very fast mile. His Florida miles show his ability and from the rail may be good enough to follow for minor spoils.

Race #6

#4 Dangle Debuted for Virgil Morgan Jr last week and was VERY impressive. He is royally bred and seems to be capable of bigger things. No price in here, but looks very solid.
#3 Hinkle Is a former Open trotter that is getting back on his game. He has good gate speed and takes a bit of a class drop tonight. He should follow the #4 from the 1/2 on and may round out a cheap exacta.
#7 GW Score Has a string of solid efforts and with his gate speed should be able to get a good early spot. A trouble free mile may see him share.

Race #7

#3 Ohio Connection Debuts for Ohio's top trainer and stays at the same class where he was competitive. If he can stay close turning for home he will fly by them in the lane.
#5 Adaboysharpie Was a terror at this level late last year and then went south for a couple of starts. He looks to be rounding back into that top form and will be dangerous in here.
#1 Traction Control Drops a notch and draws the rail. He has enough speed to stay close to the pace and may be good enough to follow along at a price.

Race #8

#4 Isn't She Precious Needed her last start and chased a standout winner. She has good gate speed and will be tighter tonight. Solid shot at a price in here.
#2 Perfect Comer Was 4 wide a long time early last week and from there was parked the mile. She never gave up and was trying to the wire. Before that she was locked in and finished with trot. A gimmick must.
#5 Esther Ruth Has a ton of ability and a wicked late kick. The problem is staying flat. If this one is anywhere close turning for home she will be on fire in the lane.

Race #9

#1 Air Art Was without room for most of the mile last week and was parked the mile the week before. Pantaleano has only had this one a few weeks and will likely race this one up close tonight. With the right trip he can win at a price.
#3 Spring Notice Has been with Hawk for 3 weeks now and has steadily improved each week. He will try to make the lead and will be at the mercy of the #1. If he does make the top in good shape he will be difficult to catch.
#6 Smoking Rebel Left and was unable to find a hole last week and raced unbelievably game for 7/8ths of the mile. Then a horse ran up on him in the lane and caused him to break. He rarely wins races but the price will make him worth the risk in the gimmick.

Race #10

#4 Cinderella's Man Needed his last start after a decent freshman campaign. Brett Miller gets the call tonight and he usually gets a lot out of this trainer's horses. With a flat mile he looks to be the one to beat.
#3 Ho-Bee Beat this level 3 back and has had rough trips since then. From the inside he should be able to stay close and with any racing luck he should be part of the gimmick.
#7 Prince Valiant Was parked the mile last week and still closed nicely for a good 2nd. Case gets along best with this one and he merits some respect.

Race #11

#4 Pacific Eagle Makes his second start at Northfield and was simply too far back to a tough winner last week. Expect this one to be driven a bit more agressively this evening.
#1 JK Artillery Chased a standout winner last week. He has enough tactical speed to seek an up close trip and is a must in any gimmick play.
#9 Hey Jack Makes his debut for a top stable. He gets along best with Brett Miller who returns tonight and from the second tier he should be able to stay close to the top picks.

Race #12

#1 Ultimate Message Has a lot of back class and with 3 starts back off a layoff he seems to be getting better. Last week he closed willingly and had the most trot in the lane. Speed is his best game and from the rail he may be able to control things.
#6 Frisky Fella Comes to Northfield from the Meadowlands where he was keeping some pretty good company. Grismore took this one over 2 others in here; that coupled with his speed make him dangerous with a flat mile.
#4 Lookin For Speed Has been a model of consistency at the top level in recent weeks and should be able to work out a good up close trip. Morgan/Case is alwyas a dangerous combination and he may be decent value tonight.

Race #13

#4 Murano Was simply out of position last week and did close well for Ward the week before. This is a very soft/suspect field and he may be in position to sweep by at a price. Tab the tote.
#6 Simba N Gets a bit of class relief and a big driver change to B. Miller. He was chasing some tough series horses in recent weeks and could wake up tonight.
#1 Kopiki Lacked any form until recent weeks when he seems to have hit an up-swing. The rail should keep him close throughout and that gives him a chance to hit the board.

Race #14

#6 Santas Listening Was pushed back last week, and had good pace once he cleared late. There isn't a lot of early speed in here and he may grab a seat early. With some racing luck he will end the night with a price.
#9 Triumphantly Drops to face the NW's tonight and that may wake this one up. He loves to win races and knows his way around Northfield. A good gimmick possibility.
#1 Cassanova The last time Brett Miller drove this horse from the inside he won. He doesn't have a lot of early speed, but should stay close. With a hot early pace this one will fly by them all.
#2 Crazy Conuck Has tactical speed to stay close and drops in class. His form is suspect, but he may be able to complete the Superfecta.
