Analysis for The Meadows
March 17, 2001

Race #1

# 2 SENOR JAMIE Has shown great improvement in the last two races and is about ready to be a serious contender at this level. Having inside post is a major plus.
# 1 RAIN IN PARADISE Won in a powerful first over move. History of this one is that he is subject to a slight bounce following a standout performance.
# 7 SATINSTANCE Makes second start on lasix from outside post. Looks to be a little short against the top two.

Race #2

# 2 PAY THE PRICE Makes second start at this level and was my top pick of last week. He put in a tough first over move on a day the front end would not quit. Looks to be on the engine as Meadows top driver, Dave Palone takes over the reins.
# 7 MAJESTIC SPUR Was DQ’d in her third straight win. He is hot at the present but may show signs of lessening as he starts from the outside post.
# 4 ARMBRO LIQUEUR Gets my long shot play of the day call but the record of my picks in this category have finished third at a alarming rate. I am handicapping my handicapping in this case.

Race #3

# 2 BIGGUYS

BACKINTOWN

Is as consistent a performer once can hope for. Looks to be very tough to
pick against.
# 1 TOAST THE TABLE Makes his first start of the year in a classification which he has had success in the past. He is a one dimensional horse as he is at his best when closing from the rear. Through out that wire job in the qualifier and he will be taken off the gate and try to close in the latter stages of the race.
# 5 RITTERS FUTURE Moves up in class following an average performance. This is against this barn’s tendencies and may be a sign that he may be a lot stronger in his second race of the season.
# 8 ARAINSTORM N Has been close on his recent races but his outside post may be a hill to high to climb.

Race #4

# 2 PACIFIC PIZZAZZ Will be rocketing out the gate and play with this field. The second pick will offer token resistance past the quarter but PP will retake and never look back.
# 5 VOLOS TIMY He is at his best when on the front end but will pay a price to get there. Driver Charlie Norris will be content to save his energy and remain in the pocket completing a short exacta.
# 1 MUDDY PUDDLE Is best of the rest.

Race #5

# 3 WICKED WYNFIELD Was claimed last week and gets the aggressive front end driver in Brian Sears. Looks like new connections may to want to send him down the pike. Check the equipment changes for tonight’s race to be wearing an open bridle.
# 7 CAMMARKIE Raced tiring two and three back only to find himself back in time to last year when he ran off a few wins on the engine. I think he is ready to be live this and in the coming weeks. He won under wraps last week.
# 8 STRANGE ENCOUNTER Has won last two in this class and may be a bit outside to really make a serious charge at the top prize. He does have early speed so any scenario in your trip handicapping must include that possibility.

Race #6

# 4 NORTHWEST Is back in fine form. He won in the second best time (1:54:3) last week. Second to Sharky Spur (who is unbeatable at this track presently) time of 1:54 flat. Wish I talked with driver Dick Stillings earlier this week about this one as he drove both of those fast miles.
# 6 SILVERLINED POCKET Trainer Bob Corey Jr. has found a way for this one to remain relaxed in traffic. His powerful late charge last week was simply impressive. I would not discount this one at any odds in this race.
# 5 CAMSURGE Is one to be very strong in the lane at this top level and will be racing in a ground saving trip.

Race #7

# 8 SIGN ON Had the rail last week and was shuffled to last before he made a thunderous move up the backside. He did flatten out a bit but he was my top pick and am confident that he will be strong tonight.
# 1 SAND MY CODY Loves to be in the early mix and given the rail post position and his ability to be rated will be very live in the under part of the exotics.
# 3 HURRICANE SAM Was my top pick last out but failed to menace. He is a tough one to figure but he has the power to go first over and clear when on his best day.

Race #8

# 5 FLYING ROCK N Drops from the top classification here into a field where his speed will become quite apparent. Look for a quarter pole move to the top and never look back.
# 3 TSM POWERPACK Has a ton of early speed and loves to play the stalker’s role. May be a little stronger with his post relief.
# 1 CASINO WINNER Has shown some decent form since adding lasix three race back. He may be over his head in this contest but should be strong enough to hold on for a minor award.

Race #9

# 2 ARNALS PRIDE Raced very game in a race where he did not figure to be there. That was his first start over this surface and may show some improvement. He was in the mix throughout that race, start to finish.
# 3 SEBELIA He is a decent trotter but seems to excel on the off going. Looks like the track will be a little off tonight.
# 5 ONE SOLE SURVIVOR Had no excuses last week and seemed to be disinterested in racing. I feel this one is better than he is showing but sooner or later even I have to give up on him if he shows no response tonight.

Race #10

# 6 SAM’S A GIMME Took last week’s field to court and won a decisive decision. If it were boxing, it would have been a TKO by the half mile pole. He was full of pace and it was apparent that no one could catch him. Anywhere near that effort makes him an easy winner.
# 1 DIGITAL WATCH Is a horse that loves to be near the front end and can use the passing lane effectively. Looks to sit the pocket and try one brush late in the mile.
# 3 RIDER TO THE STARS Has shown little since the claim three back but might enjoy a ground saving trip. Driver Mike Wilder seems to be overdriving his horses presently, but that is better than under driving them.

Race #11

# 2 K W’S ACTION Showed major signs of life last week in a very contested race. That performance caught my eye and is ready to shine in the spotlight.
# 3 HI NOONER Lighted up the tote board last out at odds of 56/1 in a dead heat. Please note that no one had this superfecta as the total pool ($54,000+ based on a $2.00 wager) went to the person who selected Nic A Speed in the win position. Looks to be one who is in top conditioning at present juncture.
# 1 KEARLY Has some decent early foot and can handle the inside post. He did win his last race and now moves up a notch in class.

Race #12

# 3 REDCOAT HANOVER Was a winner of two straight and was judges’ scratch. He looks able to wire this field with ease.
# 5 NETWORKER Should get a fine racing position in the pocket and have escort service by the top pick.
# 1 JIMMY BOIS JOLY Gains the rail and looks to be able to work out a great trip. His being interfered last week took all chances away from this one. Look for a better effort tonight.

Race #13

# 8 HATCH HANOVER Is simply the best mudder on the grounds in this classification. Looks to be first over past the half and clear by the three quarter pole. Having Driver Dave Palone is a plus. Something trainer Robert Inman must be happy with.
# 5 McCELLAN Is another one that loves it wet. He will be the early leader and try to back off the half but to no avail as the top pick engages him. He is game when someone passes him and might work in his favor.
# 4 PEACEMAKER MAYOR Has lost some of his good form but still poses a threat to hit the ticket. Having 6 place finishes out of 9 races makes him live anytime he is entered.
# 3 SHODAN Was the beaten favorite last out and seemed to be short of pace in the lane. This might be a sign that conditioning is going south but is used as a fourth pick in case I am wrong.
