Race #1 |
|
| # 2 ARAINSTORM N | Hails from the Corey Jr. trained and Muscara owned connections. He drops in class and draws inside post where he will leave alertly and may try to wire the field. |
| # 4 FRITZIE CAM | Sent a very strong signal last week in his first start of the year. This one is in top shape at present and should be considered the main rival to the top pick. He went off at 28/1 last week and will garner enough support to have odds near 3/1 at post time. |
| # 6 STANDISH HANOVER | Wired his competition in Tuesdays qualifier. He was hand driven and had more in the tank. He makes his initial start of his three year old season. Connections will be using this race as to tighten him for the stakes at months end. |
Race #2 |
|
| # 5 HATCH HANOVER | Dave Palone and trainer Bob Inman had connected three straight in present class. Last week had this one put in a monster first over move which had him clear before the three quarter pole. He simply blew that field away. I can not find another in here that has that kind of speed. Looks to be odds on tonight |
| # 4 SHODAN | Is the pure closing speed in this race. He should be very live at passing those tiring rivals left in the wake of the top pick. |
| # 7 NUCLEAR CHANCE | Met the top pick on Tuesday night and was bet down more than him. He is one that loves to close from the rear. Looks to be picking up the pieces late in the stretch. |
Race #3 |
|
| # 6 BIG MOTION | Drops to a level where his speed will be very effective. He has been racing over his head of late but to his credit, did finish second to Cameron Spur three races back in late closer action. |
| # 1 EICARLS SIDEWINDER | Is one blessed with speed but this head strong gelding seems not to relax in a hole forcing connections to race on the engine last week. He did hold up well but will leave him a bit leg weary against present company. |
| # 2 TRIPLE T SOVEREIGN | Showed some signs of life last out and gains an excellent post tonight. He does have some early speed which should place him in close contact with the front end. Hopefully he saves something for the lane as this one will be at double digit in odds. |
| # 8 FIERY SAHBRA | Has been very competitive since the addition of lasix four races back. He seems fast enough to find his way on the superfecta ticket. |
Race #4 |
|
| # 4 MARLOW HANOVER | Faced Sharky Spur three starts back and put in one nice effort. This one usually needs five races at the start of the year to gain his endurance. His prime condition for the time of year makes him very live at the top spot. He was shipped to Northfield and beat their best two straight. He took a week off but has been training excellent. |
| # 5 SHARKY SPUR | I have always said that there are none on the grounds that can beat him. Tonight, he enters the contest with a nagging problem. He is not at 100% but his heart will carry him. This one should be on the early lead but will have to fight off one furious charge by the top pick. He will come up a bit short at the wire. |
| # 1 SILVERLINED |
Is one nice pacer in his own right. Corey and Muscara have a barn full of down under horses that have been very effective. Scary part is that the flagship of the stable is still racing in Australia. His name eludes me but is said to have two more stakes before shipping to USA. His record to date is 12 wins in 13 lifetime starts. Silverlinedpocket has the best closing speed in this race but will need to be closer to the front to have a legitimate shot at the win. |
Race #5 |
|
| # 1 LIMESTONE | The Snyder stable has a nice pacer in this one. He seems to be live every week and given the inside post, should have a huge shot at the win again. He seems to do well both on the dry and wet surfaces. He has been the favorite the last four times raced with only one win. I would wager in the exotic pools exclusively keying this one 1st and 2nd. No value will be had in either the win or place pools. |
| # 2 BLUES AWAY | Is one pure closing demon that gains major post relief. Look out if this front end gets out of control. I would make this one at 4/1 if I were making the morning line. Roger Huston has installed this entrant at 10/1. I would love to wager at Rogers window at those odds. |
| # 4 KARENSNOBLE TIGER | Exits last in an easy win where he moved late and flew home only 3 ticks short of his lifetime record. He is very live in the exotics. |
Race #6 |
|
| # 1 LISTEN FOR CAM | Benefits from draw for post as this one is void of any appreciable gate speed. He was caught last week closing against a first half that went in 59:1. He did come home in 58:2 but needed to come home in 57:4 to gain the win. He is almost that fast but the track held the front end speed. Looks to come as fast this week but will have the front end contested a bit more. |
| # 4 QUIZZICAL | Was that front end horse that backed off the half. Looks to have to fight off a stiff challenge from the 5 horse, also my third choice, in Lills Dream |
| # 5 LILLS DREAM | Races best when on the engine. Connections have this classified correctly and is rumored to try the front end tonight. Mike Wilder seems better suited for the front end more than the closing style when driving this horse. |
Race #7 |
|
| # 9 C G DANCER | Ships in from Northfield where he has been more than competitive at a level near tonights competition. He should benefit racing three turns instead of four. He is void of early speed but meets a field with no controlling type front end speed. He wears the long shot of the day collar and should be at odds near 10/1 at post time. |
| # 1 TOAST THE TABLE | Won in a breeze last out where his closing speed looked awesome. He jumps up in class but seems to be improving nicely and should be very strong in the late going. |
| # 7 FANTASTIC DREAM N | Corey and Muscara seems always to be a threat and I would not leave this down under off my ticket. He has above average speed for this class and is very adept at closing late. |
Race #8 |
|
| # 3 BEARCAT HANOVER | Has gained the best post position in over a month. New connections are more than able to send this one to the front and never look back. He moves up in class slightly but that is overcome by the inside post. |
| # 1 WIN WITH STYLE | Ships in from the home of the Flying Turns at Northfield. He seems to be up against it but upon further inspection, did race well against Western Pursuit. The latter would clean this fields collective clocks. This one is the sleeper of the night. |
| # 7 SPIN DOCTOR | Makes his second start of the season after showing some nice late kick in a race that he never really was asked to race. He should be coming a little earlier and with Sears aboard, being on the engine is not out of the reach. |
Race #9 |
|
| # 7 ICE CHASER WON | Makes his initial start of the year. He is one fast pacer that has qualified in a very fast 1:55:2 at Northfield. Trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. and his go to driver Dave Palone will have this one ready to roll tonight. |
| # 1 BLACK CAM N | Is part of a powerful one two punch which hails from the Corey & Muscara down under connection. Both of these qualified impressively on Tuesday. A key wheel is not out of the question in the cast the top pick does not start. |
| # 6 NORTHWEST | Is one of the toughest horses ever to race on these grounds. He is not as fast as his earlier days but on occasion can show that flash of front end speed that has made him the sentimental favorite of the Meadows faithful. |
Race #10 |
|
| # 1 STRANGE ENCOUNTER |
Disappointed top pick last out gets the call again. He is very adept at leaving the gate but has not been driven such recently. He caught the pocket four races back and won easy. He needs to be used early for position and may relax if driven on the early lead. |
| # 3 JIMMY BOIS JOLY | Is void of any gate speed but is blessed with stamina and closing speed. Driver Ray M Romanettis claim to fame was the monster trotter in the 70s called Moshannon Express. This driver is capable but is limited to his small stable of horses. His 29 starts this season garnered 4 wins, 5 seconds and 2 thirds with a USDR of .257. Not too shabby with a guy playing cards with a short deck. |
| # 5 NIAWATCH | Has been installed as the 8/5 morning line stick. He is not back to the level where he ran off 5 or more in a row late last year. He needs something but I can not put my finger on it. He may win but at low odds, I would rather find value elsewhere. |
Race #11 |
|
| # 3 CALL THE LADY | Closed willingly last out in a final time of 1:58:3. This one has a lifetime mark just over 2 minutes. He seems poised for a huge effort. |
| # 1 KEYSTONE QUAZAR | Raced well on his drop in class last out but could not seal the deal late in the mile. He beared to the left in late stretch costing him that race. Looks to be one you can key on the under part of your exotics. |
| # 8 STARS PHOTO | Exits late closer action where he came into a gun fight loaded with a knife. He is up in class but his closing style may be effective if the front end gets challenged. |
Race #12 |
|
| # 4 C-G MAYNARD | Has run off two straight at Northfield though against lesser. He meets a field void of any controlling speed which sets this one up nicely with a closing charge late in the mile. |
| # 1 HARLEY DAVID | Gains inside post and has a decent record when drawing inside. He has above average gate speed for this classification and Mike Wilder will have this one first or second over past the half. |
| # 6 SIGN ON | Closed from the parking lot last out and seemed to be not all out. He may be a sleeper against these. Look to see if Dan Ross stable won any earlier races as this barn wins them in streaks. When one gets hot, the rest follow in suit. |
Race #13 |
|
| # 2 BLUE CLOUD | Is the over achiever of this early season. He rarely gains much support at the windows while he races with his early speed for position, waits patiently for the lane; and, jets up for the win. He is in the shape of his life and offers much value on his jump in class. |
| # 4 ALMOST GOODBYE | Put in a solid effort last out in the win for the Inman barn. Dave Palone jump aboard tonight making this one very live at the top spot. He has driven this one successfully before for the Mowood stable before the recent claim. |
| # 8 GET SHORTY | Appears to be the early pacesetter. He won last out while racing in the pocket. His outside post may force his hand early and may be a little short in the stretch. |
| # 7 ELDER | Closed nicely last week against the second pick. He may need to get cover from that one to be effective tonight. His morning line odds of 20/1 are a bit on the high side as he chances are very good at hitting the superfecta ticket. |
