Race #1 |
|
| # 6 ORACLE | Qualified nicely on March 20th then was raced very conservatively from off the pace where she came flying in the last half. She meets a field where she have in total control by mid stretch. |
| # 3 MAIN GATE SCHIMN | Gains post relief from last weeks 8 hole start. This 4 year old Schmitar mare seems to have enough gate speed to be placed in a forward racing position. Her last half times match up with any others entered. She does not gain the publics favor thus adding value to the exotics. |
| # 2 LADY TRAVELER | Seems to be rounding into shape. This one needs to be on or near the front end to be effective. Last years record of 5 wins, 5 places and 2 show from 13 starts as a two year old were top weighted in fair races. |
| # 4 HALO OVERHEAD | Makes initial start of her three year old season following a front end qualifier. Looks to be the one most likely to have the early lead though may be short in the lane. |
Race #2 |
|
| # 4 BIG Z LUGGER | Is one who has great early speed and is most relaxed when raced on the front end. Recent races had this one start from outside post positions. Todays post will permit this one to gain a quick and decisive advantage. Morning line odds of 15/1 can not be realized but expect returns of near 3/1 at post time. |
| # 2 LATHER HANOVER | Shown some nice late pace in last weeks race where he gained the place position. It appears Mickey Burke, trainer, has taken some time getting this one in shape. This Big Towner gelding seems to be very live in the exotic wagering. |
| # 1 CAMTASTIC DARTS | Is another one who seems to be on the improve. He was bet early and late two, three and four races back and failed to fire. Last time out saw this one go off at odds of 11/1 with his showing his best performance to date. Wonder if this horse can read the tote board? |
| # 6 TIMELY MATTER | May not be as fast as some in here but does have enough gate speed to secure a position near the front end. Needs to save ground and hold his own in the lane to be effective. |
Race #3 |
|
| # 1 SHORT WITH MOTION | This four year old Royal Troubador stallion simply raced under wraps in his qualifier. It must be noted that the field was pretty weak. His last half of 1:00:3 indicates readiness and after looking at present competition, should be in a great spot for the win. He did have a problem making breaks last year but did have a decent two year old season. Looks to only improve now with Brian Sears in the bike. |
| # 3 PINE HILL YANKEE | Is one who loves to be placed on the engine. Stamina might be a down fall if he wants to do early battle with the top pick. Like most of the races this season, Sears and Palone will do battle to the wire. |
| # 5 SIMPLY TIM | Caught a forward racing position in his qualifier but did get shuffled back where this one simply took off once clearance was found in the passing lane. He lost in a photo for win. He was not under much urging in that trip and may be stronger than most expect after handicapping this race. |
| # 7 CDS OVERDRIVE | Has been installed as the race favorite at post time in his last three races. He may be expected to do the same tonight as he drops in class. I feel that this one has a nagging problem and is to be a considered as a suspect favorite again. |
Race #4 |
|
| # 4 TIME WILL TELL | With only five entrants in this race, there will not be the superfecta wagering offered. TWT has been very quiet of late and seems to be in the late mix at decent odds of 4/1 at post. He has won in this class before and has one of the best pair of trotting hands on the grounds in Bill Fahy. |
| # 3 SIR DAFFY | Is the Ever Ready Battery trotter of this race colony. He stays sound and has raced nearly every week since shipping here in the spring of 97. He has early speed for position and can cut out his own mile if needed. |
| # 5 HOPEFUL FRED | Might be a suspect favorite as he won this class the last two weeks. If he wins tonight, he will be asked to skip next weeks contest do to the 3 wins and your out rule by Meadows management. Connections might not try as hard for the top spot and settle for a minor award. |
Race #5 |
|
| # 7 CG TIGRESS | Drops in class from the early closer series to the maiden ranks. She is a fast one when compared to present company. Having Palone back in the bike should make this one an odds on favorite. |
| # 5 SKIPPINGDOWN ANDOUT |
Might be a sleeper in here as he seems to be gaining some stamina. His qualifier was good enough to get a piece of this race. He did win three times last year over the fair circuit. |
| # 2 MM GRANDE | Is one that has above average closing speed but has much trouble in negotiating the turns over this surface. He needs to have a ground saving trip and not shown air till the lane to be effective. |
| # 8 HICKORY MUMZIE | Was in the mix early last week but seemed to tire from her efforts. She needs to get to the pylons early and come in the 2nd or 3rd over trip to have a shot at hitting the board. |
Race #6 |
|
| # 3 ORBIT | Was one strong front end trotter during his qualifier last Tuesday. He did post the fastest mile for the trotting persuasion that day. He was under a snug hold and looks to be very strong at first asking as he makes the first start of his three year old year. He did win a nice Ohio Sires stake at Scioto Downs as a two year old. |
| # 2 TWISTS PAGE | Broke before the start of last weeks contest, spotted the field about 15 lengths. She caught the tail end of the field by the 3/8 mark and then came outside for one long sustained move. She cleared in mid stretch to win going away. She just may be better suited for a closing style having seen her perform last week. |
| # 5 TAG AFFAIR | Just missed last out against this class. This three year old Tagliabue colt seems to be very live at coming first over with some sustaining power. He might not be as fast as the top two but looks to be strong enough to handle the others entered.. |
| # 6 CLASSIC SILK CMF | Beat up on lesser last week and moves up to where she may have a hard time to adjust. She does have the ability to take air when making a first over move. Her time last week of 2:02:4 matches up nicely with most entrants. |
Race #7 |
|
| # 3 WINCHESTER T | Was making a move to the outside in the second turn when he crossed over and hit his other leg. He has done this through out his career. He does have excellent speed and is a powerhouse when he remains on stride. |
| # 8 BOMBS A FLYING | The program omitted that this one was entered last week but was scratched out. He was entered for this same class and did get my top pick call. Todd Cummings can rate this one on the early lead. If the others decide to sit and wait in the normal Meadows style of racing, Todd should have an excellent chance at the top prize. |
| # 6 C GORDON | Has tremendous gate speed and loves to be placed on or near the lead. His ability to b in the right place at the right time makes him perfect to be the key on the exotic under part wagers. |
| # 5 CEMETERY RIDGE |
Won his last three against lesser at Northfield. He is one who loves to be in the early mix and may find a nice spot in the two hole. He meets a tougher bunch tonight and may need to be patient racing with cover to be effective. |
Race #8 |
|
| # 5 RED OAKS SPECIAL | Makes first start of his three year old campaign. She meets little resistance in obtaining the early lead. This tune up will serve her well in the weeks ahead as she will face competition in stake action. |
| # 7 COLUMBUS HANOVER |
This first time starter hails from the Snyder barn who has one of the best of this years three year old crop of trotting colts in Yankee Douglas. This one may be stronger than his only line indicates. He does look to be in good condition. |
| # 4 HE CAN TROT | Is one with closing speed and seems to be able to race both on the fast and wet surfaces. He may offer some value to the exotics if able to find his way onto the board. |
| # 3 BEST WAY | Makes first start of his three year old season. He exits qualifier with an even effort on an off track. Looks to improve drastically if given a dry surface. He just may be the sleeper that most patrons will over look in their wagering. |
Race #9 |
|
| # 6 DEFIANT MISFIT |
Is becoming one of the best on the grounds at closing against the trotting front enders. He hails from the stable that loves closing trotters in Bill Zendt. This one will try to race from the clouds and use that 28 and a piece last quarter to be zooming on by in the lane. |
| # 5 HI NOONER | Put in a huge effort last week and just tired near the wire. Looks live enough to be on the early lead as he drops slightly in class. |
| # 1 TROJAN SPARK | Has major post relief and has some early speed to benefit from his luck at the draw for post. Dave Ranking ships this one from the Big M to meet a lesser. Last time here, this one, failed in this classification though did garner a place on 2/8 at Freehold. |
| # 3 K WS ACTION | Seems to be placed in a great spot to use his late kick to best advantage. He meets others who may use too much energy in the early stages of the race thus leaving him with more in the tank for the stretch drive. |
Race #10 |
|
| # 4 PASSING VICE |
Meets a field without any controlling type early speed. This one is very adept at going the overland route and can take air in the first over mode. Wet or dry is fine with this one. He just missed two back which was the last time he entered at this level. Drops in class to where his late kick can be over powering. |
| # 3 HOT SHOT WILLIE | Has seen better days but has makes fourth start in this classification without any appreciable results. Connections might be trying something new tonight to wake him up. If successful, can add much value to the exotics. Based on the above, gets my long shot of the day call. |
| # 1 OLE BULLET | Was placed on the engine last out from outside post. He failed in that attempt but might be a little stronger for it. He is best at racing in a hole. Looks to be in a pocket trip that should hold till the stretch. Hopefully this one finds some room in the lane. |
| # 2 MAJIC LAUGH | Left a little last week, got shuffled back and then came back on. He is very live at this class and driver Todd Cummings does not get the play at the windows one might expect offer us a chance at a decent price. |
Race #11 |
|
| # 3 CHILLY DUSK | Wilbur Yoder sends out this 4 year old Just Chill mare after using her at all costs to gain the lead in last weeks contest. She should be in a bit more in condition having been used that hard. I prefer for this one to be sitting no worse than 3rd and hopefully have some room to maneuver in the lane. |
| # 5 KITS PICK | Tried to wire her competition on the 30th of March. She tired but seems no worse for wear. Looks able to race in that capacity against present company. |
| # 7 KT JASMINE | Did win her first start of the year but has failed to fire in most races since. She exits a tough late closer series and meets types similar in talent and speed to herself. She does not like the off going and may need a perfect trip for top honors. |
| # 4 DR NICK LOUTSION | Broke maiden last out in a wire job from outside post. It should be noted that this one lost to the third pick earlier in the year. He has his work cut out for him in this contest. |
Race #12 |
|
| # 2 VICTORY HAVEN | Meets much less talent than he faced in quite a while. He was my top pick two back as he cleared before the half and was on a strong lead when he made an uncharacteristic break. Looks able to wire or circle these. |
| # 1 SUPER BLUE TICK | Has gained inside post where he has shown an ability to leave and win from the post. He ships down the pike from Northfield having won two of his last four. Trainer Henry Beachy has not fared well in the last few days with these ship ins. He himself jumps aboard to ride tonight. He is both capable handling the trotters and may offer some value at the windows. |
| # 6 PRIX DNOMANDY | Closed willingly last week in gaining the win. He moves up tonight but Sears has a way of keeping this one on stride. His closing speed is a valuable asset. |
| # 7 KT JIGGER | Has been racing well in recent weeks but to install him as the morning line favorite of 5/2 is doing the public a disservice. He did leave well last out and find enough trot to be in a tight photo at the wire. He was all out and may of left some of it on the track leaving him a bit short tonight. |
Race #13 |
|
| # 8 SENOR JAMIE | Was bet early and late last week and was claimed out of the race. She moves up in class but goes to a trainer that has a good percentage of winning first out following the claims. She gains the favor of Dave Palone which will make her one of the favorites. He forte is closing speed and seems ready to put forth her best effort of the year. |
| # 6 KENNY TOMAR | Wired his competition last out and meets slightly better this time. He needs to be forwardly placed to have a shot at the top spot. |
| # 2 GIFTED RULER | Is the under achiever of the season. He seems to be stronger than he appears on paper. He is void of any gate speed but can race effectively on the closing trip. |
| # 5 AMAZING HENRY | Is a front running sort that will have some company in tonights fray. He needs to back off the half to have a legitimate shot at that win. |
