Unfortunately, as I write this, Master Thespian is in SECOND (!) place behind Colin Firth who is nominated for "Bridget Jones' Diary." How he's winning I don't know except to say that there must be a strong contingent of Firth fans who are repeatedly voting like crazed Republicans in Florida.
Some people may argue that the web poll is of no importance, but they are sadly mistaken. Although it's only July, movie insiders are already casting their eyes toward early 2002 when the race to the Golden Globes and the Oscars heats up. Sir Anthony actually has a chance to make movie history next year if he gets nominated for "Hannibal" – he would be one of a select few actors nominated twice for the same role. Hell, Tony could turn out to be the only actor with such a distinction, but my memory is kind of rusty and I'm not sure.
As Hopkins/Lecter fans, we've got a big goal. Vote as many times on that poll
to ensure Sir Anthony a well-deserved victory and get him on the road to
attaining Oscar gold in 2002.
Thanks, as always, go out to the GREAT TonysGirl!!! We salute you! --Chris
