Video Compilations and Collectables

This is All Those Wasted Years: Live at the Marquee, released in 1984, first issued in Japan as pictured to the left, then worldwide as pictured to the right. The quality is fantastic and I strongly recommend that you try to find a copy as it shows Hanoi Rocks at peak form, though sadly, out of print for years. It was filmed on Dec 19, 1983 at the Marquee Club in London England before the release of Two Steps LP. No real interviews here, just kick ass concert footage. Note: this video omits 4 songs that are included on the CD but adds one song which is not on the CD. I have searched in vain for the catalog number for the non-Japanese release but can't find it, but the Japanese Catalog number is VHS:PPV-4001/CDV:PDV-4001. Track listing as follows : Pipeline, Oriental Beat, Back to Mystery City, Motorvatin, Until I Get You, Mental Beat, Don't You Ever Leave Me, Tragedy, Malibu Beach Nightmare, Taxi Driver, I Feel Alright, Train Kept A Rollin', Under My Wheels & Blitzkrieg Bop (with Razzle on vocals and Michael on drums). Also released on Laserdisc (with the Japanese CD cover), which I paid dearly for.
This video is Up Around the Bend, which was filmed in April 1984 (venue unknown) in Nottingham England. This video I think is a bootleg, as it is filmed from the side and is quite dark, sounds bad, but according to Michael Monroe, the show was "better as a gig". This video is more commonly known as the Nottingham Tapes, which is pictured to the right on the Jettisoundz label, catalog number JE169. The Japanese release is still in print and can be purchased at CD Now. Catalog number is VHS:PPV-4003/CDV:PDV-4003. Track listing as follows: Back to Mystery City, Up Around the Bend, I Can't Get It, Motorvatin, Mental Beat, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Don't You Ever Leave Me, Tragedy, Malibu Beach Nightmare, Underwater World, I Feel Alright, Taxi Driver & Blitzkrieg Bop (with Razzle on vocals and Michael on drums). Also released on Laserdisc, which I again paid dearly for. I must say that the transfer to Laserdisc is far superior than the VHS counterpart.
This is the Hanoi Rocks Story, which was released only in Japan in 1990. It features most of Hanoi Rocks (leaving out Lightning Bar Blues, Devil Woman, etc.) promotional clips and 2 tracks from the aforementioned Marquee show. The highlight of this video is an insightful interview with Michael Monroe who gives an oral history of the band. This is a must for Hanoi collectors. Note: this video is dedicated to Nick Dingley and was released on CD as well with a different track listing. This video is still in print and can be purchased at CD Now. Catalog number is VHS:PPV-4004/CDV:PDV-4004. Also released on Laserdisc, which was not as expensive as the other two. Track listing is as follows: Tragedy, Motorvatin', Oriental Beat (all 3 from '81 from Finnish TV Studio), Taxi Driver, Back to Mystery City (both from the Marquee show), Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Don't You Ever Leave Me, Up Around the Bend (last 3 are promo clips from the Two Steps LP)
This is Black Sunday, which is a bootleg, but a good one, for historical content, if not for quality. It features Hanoi Rocks and related material. Track Listing is as follows: Quit the School, M.C. Baby (Live at Kessa Rock 81, Tragedy, Village Girl (dedicated to Carly Simon), 11th Street Kids, I Want You (Swedish TV), Malibu Beach Nightmare (Japanese TV 1983), Tragedy, Motorvatin', Oriental Beat ('81 from Finnish TV Studio), Up Around the Bend (British TV Show Tube 1984), Interview with Stiv Bators and Michael Monroe 1985, Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Promotional Clip, Don't You Ever Leave Me (Promotional Clip), Up Around the Bend (Promotional Clip), House of Ecstacy - Cherry Bombz (Promotional Clip), Hot Girls in Love - Cherry Bombz, (Promotional Clip)
Well here it is folks. The video which i searched in vain for....the infamous split video with Bon Jovi. It does exist. It was released in Japan in 1984 and contains all the videos from the Two Steps From The Move LP. The catalog number is PV49-1003. Special thanks to a very generous Aaron, my hero at the moment for providing the scan. The Hanoi fans around the world thank you!!
This is the much sought after Japanese only biography of Hanoi Rocks entitled Boulevard of Broken Dreams . It has been out of print for a while and the going rate for it now is upwards of $80.00. Most of the text is in Japanese. It contains a chapter on all the post Hanoi related bands and one dedicated to Razzles memory.
This is a Japanese only tabulature book called Hanoi Rocks Band Score released in 1989 by Shinko Music Publishing Co.. I have never seem this but I did see it listed once on Ebay. It features the following songs, Until I Get You, Ice Cream Summer, Motorvatin' (Live), Visitor (Live), Under My Wheels (Live), Train Kept A-Rolin' (Live), Up Around The Bend, Shakes & Million Miles Away (all live versions from All Those Wasted Years).
These are the Super Stars Hanoi Rocks Photo Cards, which were issued as part of a set of 500 rock and roll bands and famous events, back in 1991. The photos on the left are the front and the reverse is on the right. Really cool and rare pieces of Hanoi memorabilia.
....and this is the other card.
This is a rock card that was printed in 1986 in Holland. I really don't know much about this except that Krokus and Billy Idol were also featured. I do not own this....yet.
