Hanson-Allen Family 'Train-spotting' in London in 1856 The following are the train-spotting entries from pages 2-5 of George Frederic Allen's diary. G.F. Allen, then aged 19, travelled regularly by the London Brighton & South Coast Railway. He also created his own model railway in the course on 1856, and this is documented in the diary. It was of 3-inch gauge and had track about 60 feet long. Unfortunately he didn't include the dates of these entries, but at least it shows what locos were regularly performing on what service, at some point during 1856. Visit also the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway website for further information on the line.
