Subject: Ed. Research Help!

Below I have described 4 ways in which a person might approach installing a new
computer program. Select the situation that best describes how you would
operate. All you need to do is e-mail my address with the number of your
selection.

This will help us GIS trainers deliver better quality, learner-centered classes
geared for our students.

Thanks in advance!

1. When you receive your software you call up friends to see if any of them can
help you install it. If none is available until later you are willing to wait
for their help. The most important thing is that you get to discuss the
install with someone else.

2. You open the user's guide and at least read enough of the instructions that
you feel confident that you won't accidentally delete files when you install.
You then insert the disk, keeping the user's guide close at hand.

3. You first open the user's guide and read it from cover-to-cover to ensure
that you are aware of everything. Then, and only then, do you insert the disk.

4. You rip open the box, stick in the first disk and start pushing buttons to
see what you can figure out. You only refer to the user's guide when you get
in trouble, but the only help you really look for in the manual is the
Technical Support phone number.
