"One on One" with Isaac
11/1/99 (Teen Beat Magazine)

Are you dating anybody?

Isaac: I definitely have dated people on and off, however no girlfriend, no.

What's the best thing about being single?

Isaac: I'm not necessarily one to be a single guy, however there is a nice little bit of freedom there. I'm definitely one who would enjoy having a girlfriend. I just do not have one at the moment.

Now that we've seen what kind of power you can have when you say something in the media, does it make you a little more cautious about what you say? Is it freaky that people will pick up on one little random thing you say in one interview and suddenly the world thinks bullet-proof marshmallows is your favorite dessert?

Isaac: I think it is definitely odd. To a certain extent people take things a little too seriously. People spend too much time on what other people say instead of worrying about just going on with life. Instead they focus on weird, random things that you say. But I guess that's the beauty of the beast.

Does it make you more cautious in interviews now?

Isaac: I think to a certain extent it can't help but make you a little more savvy about what you say. You try to remind yourself not to say certain things because they might take that a little too literally. So you definitely think about that.

Have you or your brothers bought yourselves anything really special in the last couple of months?

Isaac: I just bought a Fender Stratocaster [guitar]. It's actually a Stevie Ray Vaughn model which I changed up just a little. I also got a Fender Telecaster.

Is it true that you name your guitars?

Isaac: Yeah, I've joked around. You know, Betsy and things like that, just goofy little names, nothing more than that really. Not necessarily seriously. It's not like I give them nameplates or anything.

Now that you've achieved the ultimate goal, so to speak, platinum records, sold out arenas and all that, what's the next goal for you guys?

Isaac: I think just to make a good record, to make a record that people respond to, that people enjoy. And you hope that you can continue to be successful in the music industry and you can do what you love to do, continue to play at concerts and have people enjoy that. That's really our only goal. And I guess if things expand from there then that's great. If we can continue to do this and do this well, then we'll be happy campers.
