Well i havent done much. Project 3 of cs111 is due friday. That sucks. i've just about given up on quizes for that class, since i've missed most of them, or outright failed one that i did go to. So out of a total of 60 points i have 17 right now. Horrid. he drops one, but thats still a whopping 34%. anyways the project is all worked out in my head, gonna try to finish it in the next 2 days so that i can be free on thursday. I also got a new dvd player for my tv. Yes it cost $60 and it cant play svcds that well. but it was $60 and place normal dvds well, thats great. Oh well, at least i finally got it to work with my universal remote. Anywyas my new laptop came. As always its a nice solid laptop made out of magnesium alloy, but its an HP this time, all my other stuff and all the stuff at my house is HP so i guess it matches then. Bad thing is its ethernet port doesnt like linksys routers without a hub inbetween. It works everywhere else. I dunno. So i am just using it on wireless, my long cable was ugly anwyays. Here is the customary picture. Its got dvd, so well svcds will have to be played off it then. I also played a little war3 today. It runs decent on the laptop, i am surprised.

I ended up watching the entire womens figure skating long program yesterday. I really did wanna see michelle kwan skate but i could have done without watching most of the rest of it. Oh well. It sucked that she lost. The girl that won looked like tinkerbell. And i was happy that of all the ones that did win it was the sarah whatever her last name was. the sashe cohen girl and the russian looked like stone cold cold blooded soldiers they way their faces were when they got on the ice. I described those girls as soldiers ready to kill, but with dresses on and skates. Thats how they looked. Some of them went on all smiling and some looked like they were ready to cut someone's head off with a skate blade.

Anyways I havent done much this week. I got cracked war3 b.net from alan. thats cool, but it runs super slow on my laptop. my new laptop is at home so maybe it'll be better on that. I finished my java project in like 1 day. Java is a very easy language, but it has a lot of nice features that make it pretty useable. My project was one of those slide pieces around puzzle games. Pretty easy to code. And i ate at olive garden yesterday, which was good i really wanted some fettucine alfredo for a while and i had that.

I almost had the perfect weekend. But some people decide they need to hide behind AIM and open up painful wounds and pouring salt water on them. Thank you for doing that and making me mad for a couple hours. Since this person doesnt read this page anyways, i'm sure it really doesnt matter that i'm typing this.

Well the worst week of the quarter is over. I had to turn in my stats midterm on monday and take a cs131 midterm. i also realized finally last night that i did one really easy problem wrong. i had this brilliant idea on how to make a grid of 10x10 in java using only the draw rect function but i guess i forgot to do it both ways , since it probalbly looks like one small square that grow righwards and downwards. i forgot to make increasing squares starting from the bottom right to top left also so its wrong. damn. Anyways, on wednesday i started my CS project. that blew. I spent like 15 hours compiling linux kernels and it crashing. Turned out it was my laptop. I went to the lab the next day and it worked fine. So i finished and all was good but i was sleep and food deprived so on thursday i fell asleep from 2pm to 9pm. At least the next project wont be very hard since i know what to do already. What sucks is that was valentines day and someone called to go have dinner with me, but i was sleeping being the sleepy guy i am. Oh well at least igot some rest. I also finally got a shipping confirmation that my HP laptop is going out. I also got 512mb more of working ram to use on it, so its gonna be pimptastic. I'll finally have a dvd player with tvout, so maybe i wont even buy one for the tv but i probably still will. Next week will be pretty relaxed, just one lameo java project to code, and gotta catch up in lab. I have like my java project and my next linux project already thought out, so the hard part is done. Well i'm gonna to torrance now, so i can get there before lunch and get my parents to buy me lunch. have a nice weekend.

Well i've been working on my linux system call project. ilearned how to compile the kernel, and download kernels yesterday. so now i just have to modify some c code (easier said than done) and recompile and i should be good for project 2. project 2 is my valentine btw. but if you think you can do a better job as my valentine say so, and i'll have to consider. Below is a picture of my portable project 2 office. I call it bed office. Complete with wireless lan on the winxp box, i didnt get around to trying to get wireless to work on the linux machine, and x doesnt work on that one anyways.

Well i've had a pretty tiring week. but i'm still on track pretty much and my grades havent fallen down the poop hole yet. I went out with my friend on wednesday and we saw connie at the coffee place . i'm gonna agree with connie and also say that i think my girl friend (notice the space which i have yet to rectify) is really cute. Anyways moving on... my laptop still hasnt come because the guy on ebay uses some vstore fullfillment house and they havent sent it out yet due to "processing". this could almost be as bad as connies laptop taking 3 weeks to come. the other thing that sucks was i thought i was getting a deal on new memory for the new laptop, but i ended up with incompatible memory. Shows me that being a cheapass isnt a good idea. Oh yeah i also removed loer and kwan from the torrance links bar since well... they arent posting. JJ and Jason are next to go in order of posts since they have yet to post in the year 2002. Soon it will be just me and connie since we post regularly. Anyways i am doing good hope you all are doing good too.

Well i sold my last laptop to one of the losing bidders outside of ebay. I got $1800 for it, with no commision so thats like $1860. So i think i made like 30 or 40 dollars short of $2500 for the 6 toughbooks i sold. So not bad, i have enough "work" money now, to last the whole year of frivolous spending. I did buy a new laptop for myself finally since i didnt keep the toughbook. I got an HP zu1155, for $925 on ebay and its $1500 in stores , so thats great, since the one i got was new also . not to mention no tax. its about the same size as my current laptop, except its 12.1 inch screen and a p3-700 with an expansion base with a dvd drive. i already bought new ram for it to jack it up to 512mb instead of 256mb. it'll be very fast i think. The best part is it probably only cost me the cost of the ram and maybe $50 or so to upgrade to it. and well, $50 for the dvd drive and tv out is worth it so now i can watch dvds. cool. I did finallly finish those stats problems, and i got my 3rd lab for csm152a checked off today with joe. So i'm pretty on track this quarter, i hope it pays off since if it doesnt it'll really suck. I also wowed the class in cs111 by diving a sweat to catch a piece of candy the professor threw to me left handed since i answered a question. He gave me another one later but the throw was more accurate . I also put together my desk and cleaned my like workstation area. it looks pretty neat.

Wierd i just checked my site stats. i get like 340 hits a month apparently, and like average around 80 unique people. which is odd, the unique thing doesnt make sense. anyways 340 hits. i also found that 87% of my hits from search engines, which is all google btw, are for "chris loer" or "shadi alem usc" . i dont even know how many times i've put shadi or chris loer on my page, but thats wierd.

I would just like to say that school sucks. I hate school. School hates me. it is mutual hatred. And if you had just been to the CS class i was in , you would know that to make sure the mutual hatred bit was not set wrong inadvertantly you could assign a sempaphore , lock bit, monitors or some other mechanism so that it could not happen. i like that class, thats about the only class i like. Last night i stayed up all night basically (slept from like 10 to 12:30 which is about it. all i did last night was clean my room , eat and do stats homework and i hate stats. the problems were really wrong and they just sucked. but i did like 10 of the 12 problems and i'll do some more of them. i am thinking this is just not worth it. i mean i get like an hour of sleep sometimes, i have to go to class in the morning and its freaking cold and i get what maybe if i'm lucky a better grade.

I did buy a desk from target for like $30 yesterday and its great, since well i can put my legs under it. Not to mention it matches the plastic drawers i bought and it was only $30. I also have now sold 5 of my toughbooks so only 1 left. I got an unreal $1850 for the last one, which was a good $200 or so more than the others. Odd. and they paid already too.
