Rise of the Empire
Yoda - Dark Rendezvous
Yoda - Dark Rendezvous
by: Sean Stewar
Summary:
As the Clone Wars rage, Jedi Master Yoda must once again face one of his greatest adversaries--Count Dooku. . .
The savage Clone Wars have forced the Republic to the edge of collapse. During the height of battle, one Jedi Knight escapes the carnage to deliver a message to Yoda on Coruscant. It appears that Dooku wants peace and demands a rendezvous. Chances are slim that the treacherous Count is sincere, but with a million lives at stake, Yoda has no choice.
The meeting will take place on Vjun, a planet steeped in evil. The challenge could not be more difficult. Can Yoda win back his once promising pupil from the dark side, or will Count Dooku unleash his sinister forces against his former mentor? Either way, Yoda is sure of one thing: This battle will be one of the fiercest he'll ever face.

Review:
A book about Yoda, does it get any better than that? It also focuses a lot on Dooku. And there are several flashbacks to when Dooku was just a padawan and it gives you more of an idea as to what Dooku was like as a child and the roll Yoda played in his young life. It sort of mirrors what we will see between Anakin and Obi-Wan. It also gives you an inside look at Dooku's mind where you can see he sometimes wonders if choosing the dark side was the best choice. However, he always pushes those memories away. It also gives us an idea of the relationships between Dooku and Asajj Ventress, and Dooku and Sidious. No matter what is told to him Dooku refuses to see that Sidious sees him the same way he, Dooku, sees Ventress: a pawn. We also get to hear some of Yoda's wise advice as he helps Whie and Scout, a young boy afraid of the dark side and a young girl with little force sensitivity respesctively, to gain confidence in themselves and take steps towards becoming great Jedi.

SPOILERS:

The only spoiler I have is a funny comment from Obi-Wan towards the end of the novel. After Ventress escapes them Anakin and Obi-Wan are talking with Yoda and Obi-Wan looks up and reminds Anakin about the times they've stolen Ventress' ships and when Anakin asks him what he means Obi-Wan looks off at their ship flying offplanet and says, "Oh, no reason." I just found it kinda funny...
