Rise of the Empire
Darklighter
Empire - Volume 2: Darklighter
by: Paul Chadwick
art by: Doug Wheatley and Tomas Giorello
Summary:
"At last it comes down to a farm boy and his friend."
The "farm boy," of course, is Luke Skywalker. His story has been told and retold many times. But less is known about Luke's boyhood friend, Biggs Darklighter, without whose help and sacrifice, Luke's torpedo run on the Death Star would not have been successful.
Here at last Biggs' story is revealed: His days at the Imperial Academy, the transformation of a conspiracy among friends into outright rebellion, the evolution of words into actions, and the mutiny that turned a group of disillusioned pilots into heroes.

Review:
We saw Biggs a little in Star Wars: A New Hope, and we saw him a little more in the Special Edition, but we know so little about him. The novelization gives some more information on Biggs and other books give some history between Biggs and Luke but what happened when Biggs was at the Academy? How did he end up with the Rebellion? I like this collection because it gives you a broader view of who Biggs Darklighter is. We also get to meet Derek Klivian and see how much he gets hurt even before being a member of Rogue Squadron. We also see why he didn't participate in attack against the Death Star. Now all we need to know is what happened to Luke's other friend, Tank, mentioned in ANH. And another portion of this TPB was "The Short, Happy Life of Roons Sewell." A story about the man in charge of Yavin Base before General Yan Dodonna took over, after General Sewell's death. An interesting tragedy, the story of Roons Sewell. I enjoyed the tale myself, but I was more interested in Biggs' story. A great read!
