The New Jedi Order: Force Heretic I: Remnant by: Shane Dix & Shawn Williams

Yet the mission has barely begun when the searchers stumble into a horrific battle. The Imperial Remnant, in retreat from the might Yuuzhan Vong, is about to be destroyed. It would seem those aboard the Jade Shadow have little choice but to leave the Empire to its fate. But these are no ordinary space travelers, they are Jedi.... Review: Good:  Oh, just all of it. Really loved this book, while not topping Traitor it could easily be the second best NJO book I've read or at least tied for that position. Had a bit of action, bit of romance, bit of laughter. Dix and Williams did a marvelous job in this book. And, it seems, for the first time in a while the characters are themselves again. No one seems to have been written incorrectly, which is great. Not a single complaint here. And the new name for the Republic... Galactic Federation of Free Alliances (a reference to the fans calling the Star Wars galaxy the GFFA [Galaxy far far away...] according to Sue Rostoni of LucasBooks.) Bad:  As I've said, I can't complain the book was just too good. SPOILERS: Jacen and Danni!! 'Bout time he starts looking for a relationship, he hasn't had anything since that little kiss from Tenel Ka all the way back in the YJK series. And Pallaeon... finally convincing the Moff Council to join up with the Gallactic Alliance. And the Yevetha... can't really say I'm upset about their being wiped out as I never liked them but it's a heavy blow... so many species are being all but eradictaed by the Yuuzhan Vong. Back to the New Jedi Order Era. Back to Star Wars Eras.
