The New Jedi Order
Traitor
The New Jedi Order: Traitor
by: Matthew Woodring Stover
Summary:
After the capture of Coruscant, the mighty heart of the New Republic, a stunned galaxy fears that nothing can stop the Yuuzhan Vong. Still, that crushing defeat produces one small miracle: Jacen Solo is alive. Yet he can scarcely imagine himself in stranger circumstances. The young Jedi Knight is in the care of Vergere, a fascinating creature of mystery and power, her intentions hard to fathom, her cruelties rarely concealed. But this master of inscrutable arts has much to teach the young Jedi . . . for she holds the key to a new way to experience the Force, to take it to another level--dangerous, dazzling, perhaps deadly. In the wrong hands, the tremendous energies of the Force can be devestating. And there are others watching Jacen's progress closely, waiting patiently for the moment when he will be ready for their own dire purposes. Now, all is in shadows. Yet whatever happens, whether Jacen's newfound mastery unleashes light or darkness, he will never be the same Jedi again. . . .

Review:
Good:  I was glad to see Jacen again. Three novels with little more than mentioning his name, generally to say he was dead. But I knew it wasn't true! Jacen Solo is my favorite Star Wars character so you can expect me to LOVE this book. In fact it's my favorite Star Wars novel to date. Vergere here is VERY tricky. "Everything I say to you is a lie." Jacen's new training is HARSH, but he learns a very valuable lesson about pain and betrayal. When Jacen begins to make the Yuuzhan Vong creatures bend to HIS will, quite literally at times, I truly began to get excited. Even Anakin was never able to accomplish THAT task. It seemed as if I was right there with him every step of the way. At times I kinda wish I was. It may have seemed like hell, but it was a true learning experience.

Bad:  Can I find any fault in this book? Hmm... Maybe the ammount of punishment Vergere decides to give Jacen, she may have gone too far with it, but that would likely be it. Even if I can actually say that was bad. Which I doubt. I can't back that up.

Final Note:
