The Son of Satan

Chapter One: Devil-spawn


The light? But for what reason should I associate myself with such a substance? I, the beloved son of Lucifer, affixed with such a symbolic holy concept as sunlight? ...I could laugh at such a thing while the angels weep. Why, with a smile, I could call it Ludicrous.

Moreover, I will rip out your eyes from their sockets and force them down your wind pipe if your knowingly affiliate my most beautiful self with a circumstance so foolish as that a second time.

But please, I ask as I motion for you to take the seat at my side, do not let me frighten you. I have a wonderfully sinful account I'd like to retell for you if you would be so kind as to allow me. Let me remind you, I'll be dreadfully upset if you were to refuse…perhaps upset enough to rage a war of angels in Heaven as my father once did oh so long ago.

Ah, but I shall start my story now...for now it must be told…

Let us start with my name, shall we? For I am the single damned fruit that fell from the Devil his very self, Ariston. What does 'Ariston' mean, you wonder? Well, it literally means 'The Best' in Ancient Greek...With a grin, who am I to argue? You just blinked didn't you? Of course I have other names. My dear father would never decide on but one for the son whom he is so devoted. Why, I have four such names.

The second, 'Anicetus', meaning unconquerable, was given to me almost solely for the sake of my father's fragile confidence. For who but Jesus could not be tempted by Satan?

The third, Kallias, for 'Beauty'. Did you not think the son was just as beautiful and wise? Though at times my hair is black and my eyes irises can hint red, I think it brings out the color of the warm blood flowing though your veins. You agree don't you? Just nod and smile and I'll gladly continue. Oh, I thank you so very kindly.

The third and final name given to me by Abaddon(1) was 'Lysander'. You see, my father very firmly believes that because of God's 'unacceptance' of his perfect beauty and perfect beauty, my father was all but 'forced' to seduce a third of the Lord's most heavenly beings and turn them against the rest of their brethren. He believes those referring to themselves as 'Satanists', or rather perhaps anyone not following the restricting, patronizing, and boring ways of God, are thereby released from God's control, thus the name 'lysander', 'release of man', was given to me. I, being the example for my father's people to follow; The gift, if you will, to all those loyal.

My, you're shivering? Is it so cold in here of a sudden? Oh, If you'll excuse me while I go and close the window.

Now, I'm a liar, aren't I? I didn't get into my story at all, did I? Do accept my apology, won't you? But I suppose I have a have more than a lifetime to get into it...It's really a shame that you'll probably die in a fifty years. You could even die tomorrow, wouldn't you? Pity, such a shame. But alas, the darkness of the night is slipping to the violet of the dawn and with, I must depart as all children of the darkness must. If you join me again tomorrow I promise I really will share the events of my astonishingly short life with you. For now, as I walk across the creaking floor boards and move to turn the handle, I bid you adieu.
