This counter is set up for parents to sign in/out their child it is located just out side the playroom door.
I remodeled my two car garage into this over 200 sq ft playroom with children in mind.  When you walk into the room in the left corner are shelves to the ceiling full of child care supplies and a retaining wall (carpet) to keep little ones from climbing them.  I use the carpeted wall as a flannel board during circle time.  The right corner holds select toys for the children to play with during free time.  I have more toys put in bins which I pull out and change often to keep their interest.
Looking back to the entrance on the left is my table for arts, crafts and pre school time.  I found that table and the chairs on the web.  To the right is an inside view of the entrance door with file cabinets that tuck behind the door when opened.  The desk just left of the door has a computer for the children to use.  You can see part of the big freezer (I had no other place for it) it work great as a giant bulletin board using magnets for tacs.
These cupboards are on your left as you enter the playroom.  They were my old kitchen cupboards before its remodel.  I painted them white and you can just make out the hand prints along the counters edge.  I used my friends and families children's hands it was a fun messy project.
