Chloe was another pet store rescue. She had been in a display case with sliding plexi-glass doors. When we went to the pet store that day we saw an injured Albino Banana California Kingsnake (aberrant pattern). She had a rather nasty open cut on her belly above her vent and a chunk of skin missing just above the end of her tail that was an open cut also. Without hesitation she was in a pet box and in our car heading home with us. She was a normal feisty kingsnake and loved to musk you when taken out to hold. After the initial musking was over she settled down and liked to be held. We treated her belly and tail with Panalog (an antibiotic salve) and paid close attention to her shed until the wounds were healed. All the while she ate well and gained nice weight. We weigh all of our snakes every month and track their weight gain. After having her for about 8 months we were approached by a friend of ours who is also a breeder. He works with various snakes including kingsnakes which we don't at this time. He asked if we would be interested in trading her for a female Western Hognose which we do work with and had a male and a female already. We decided to trade and Chloe has a wonderful home and we got our third western hognose. |
