In June of 1972, after taking a year and a half off, Erin started her new career in advertising. The above was her idea, and it ended up earning her millions, but once again, she felt empty inside, and decided to go back to her one love, music. After a 7 year hiatus and spening all of her 67 million on flowers, shoes, and a failed investment in the H.R PufnStuf stock, Erin hit the recording studio again. But it was on the set to her first music video that she finally found happiness, acting. In June of 1980, she signed a contract with UPN for a Saturday morning childern's show, a show that would launch a struggling new network into fame and a struggling singer/actor into the limelight once more. Producer Bob Saget remembers: "The show called for a male host to assist Erin, so Erin called up her longtime friend Chase to come and co-star in the show with her. It was an excellent idea." Chase, who had finally been released from the rehab center just 6 months earlier, had been looking for the perfect way to be famous once more. After 6 failed porn movies, Chase received the call, and immediately said "yes". The show was ready to go. Happy Sunshine Station debuted in the fall of 1980. The show was an immediate success. Within one month, it controlled the top of the Neilson Ratings for the Saturday mornings. The success would last for 6 years, and through 1980-1983, The show won 3 consecutive Emmy's for children's show , and Erin won 3 Emmy's for best actress in a children's show. But the fame was taking control of one of the cast members. Erin had become addicted to humping frogs once again at the end of the 1984 season, and this strange addiction would take a toll on the rest of the cast. Three months later, Chase was falling in the dark world of drugs and alcohol once again. He would often walk on to the set of Happy Sunshine Station drunk and high. He was often angry and abusive and had to be esorted off the set by police several times. The whole time, Erin was in her dressing room humping frogs. UPN fired Chase before the 1984 fall season would begin, and they sent him to rehab for the second time in his life. He would stay there for 2 years. Erin, now, was the only host left on the show and had to deal with controlling the magical land of Happy Sunshine Station on her own. But, as the 1984-1985 season went on, the ratings dropped. Finally, after one more season of Happy Sunshine Station, the show went off the air in the spring of 1986. Erin now was lost again, in the world all alone, and with a terrible addiction to frog sex. |
