~Chapter 13~
I jumped up and ran to the door.
"Oh it's just you."
"Well hello to you too!" Howie said as he walked into the apartment.
"Sorry Howie I was just waiting for...."
"Brian? Yeah I know. Where's Lauren at?"
"Wait you know about it too? Do you know how he feels about me?" I asked shutting the door.
"Yeah...."
"Well? Please tell me this is driving me nuts." I interrupted.
"Well I can't tell you. I was sworn to secrecy."
"Howie please please please tell me! Please?!"
"Sorry Ames. Can't do that. Now where is Lauren?"
"In her room." I said and plopped back onto the couch.
*15 minutes later*
There was yet another knock at the door. ~This better be Brian.~ I thought. I opened the door and smiled.
"Hey." Brian said returning the smile.
"Hi. Come on in."
"Well I was hoping that we could go for a walk or something. You know so that we don't have to worry about people listening in. I know that's why Kevin and Howie are here."
"Ok." I shut the door behind me and we started walking down the street. We weren't talking for awhile.
"So how's it goin'?" I asked breaking the silence.
"Oh pretty good I guess." He answered. We walked on not talking all that much. I was kinda scared on what he had to say. I was hoping that he felt the same way. I wasn't really sure if he really did.
~Chapter 14~
"So I guess we should talk about...you know... last night." Brian said. We stopped walking and looked at each other.
"Yeah." I answered.
"So you really have feelings for me?" he asked. "I just want to make sure before I say anything else."
"Well......Yeah I do."
"Ok...." It took him awhile before he said anything. "You know this is the first time that it's ever been hard talking to you." he started to say.
"Yeah I know what you mean."
"Well I've done a lot of thinking. I've also talked to Howie and Kevin about this. And I have discovered that I love you too." My eyes widened. I couldn't believe what I had just heard. Something I wanted to hear for so long was just said. He loves me.
"But, the thing is," He paused for a minute.
~Oh no there's a but~ I thought. ~That's never good.~
"I don't want this to ruin our friendship. Kevin and Howie say that it wouldn't because we have a strong friendship. They also say that this one would last so don't even worry about it."
"Yeah." I said looking at the ground. He put his hand under my chin and lifted it up so that I would look at him.
"Well what do you have to say about all this? I want to hear what you have to say before I tell you the rest."
I took a deep breath. ~Well hear goes nothing.~
"All I have to say is that I love you. If it doesn't work out between me and you, which I sure hope it will, I'll make sure that we stay friends. I wouldn't be able to handle not having you as a friend. But there is also one thing that is keeping me from wanting to date you."
~Oh my god am I really saying this?~
"We both got hurt. For some reason, I think we could be a rebound for each other. I know that may sound harsh. But I want to make sure that the feelings between you and I aren't just temporary."
Brian just stood there looking at me. I couldn't tell what he was thinking.
"I was going to say the same thing." he said.
"Guess we know what to do next." I said.
"Wait a while and see what happens. If God wants us to be together, then we will. If not, then it wasn't ment to be." Brain said.
"Exactly."
~Chapter 15~
Brian and I walked back to my place talking just about what has happened in the past few days.
"Want to come in?" I asked when we got into the parking lot.
"Nah I think I should be getting home. I'll talk to you later?" He asked.
"Definitely." I answered. He got into his car and drove off.
I just stood there for a while. I couldnt believe what had just happened. Did I actually tell him that I didn't want to date him right now? I couldnt believe I said that! But then I got to thinking about the whole situation and discovered that we did the right thing. We could have just set ourselves up for even more heart ache. I didn't think I would be able to handle that.
I walked back into the apartment and saw Howie, Kevin, Lauren, and Michelle sitting at the kitchen table. They all stared at me when I walked in.
"What?" I asked.
"Did you talk to Brian?" Kevin asked.
"Yes and we aren't dating. We decided to wait a while."
"You guys look cute together though. How long are you going to actually wait?" Lauren asked.
"I don't know. Until we can handle dating again. We were both hurt pretty bad you know." I answered.
"Yeah well I still think that you two should have gotten together." Howie said.
"Yeah well so do I." I said and sat down at the table with them.
"I give you guys like 2 days before you get together." Michelle said rolling her eyes.
"More like 1." Lauren commented.
"Oh shut up." I said trying to make it sound like I was at least half serious. "Who asked you anyway?"
"Me." They said at the same time.
"Yeah well I hope youre right."
"I'm sure they are." Kevin said. "Rok's got it bad for you. He has for a long time. I'm surprised that you could never figure it out."
~Chapter 16~
It's been about a week since I had that little talk with Brian. Yes Lauren, Michelle, and Kevin were wrong about us getting together in that short period of time. Brian and I have become closer. It's hard to believe that we even could. Michelle tells me that we flirt like crazy now. What does she know? Well ok yeah we have been flirting like crazy but it was fun. I knew that we were going to end up together soon. I just couldn't figure out when.
"Hey Rok." I said as I walked into his house.
"You know I'm not going to knock at your place when ever I go there either." He said with a smile
"Oh you better or I'm going to pound on you. You can't walk into a girl's apartment like that. What if one of us is walking around looking like crap? It's not a pretty site Brian believe me."
"You would try and beat me up huh?" he said walking closer to me. "I bet you that you can't even pin me down."
"Oh yeah? Bet you I can." So we wrestled each other for a while. I actually happened to be winning. I think he was trying to go easy on me.
"Come on Brian.......I know you can do better than that!"
"I can." And with that I was on the floor with him on top of me. "Got ya!" His face was within inches of mine. Then out of nowhere he kissed me. ~Finnaly!~ I thought. Someone had walked into the door and saw us kissing.
"Ok so I was a few days off." Michelle said. Brian and I quickly stood up and saw that Kevin and Michelle had decided to stop by. ~What good timing!~ I thought.
"Oh please go back to what you were doing. Don't mind us." Kevin teased.
"Funny." I said. Brian had a sly smile on his face. That just made me laugh a little bit.
"So are you two a couple yet?" Michelle asked. Brian and I looked at each other.
"Well...." He started to say. "I guess so."
"Finally." Kevin said. "I was getting sick of seeing you two flirt like 12 year olds. It was starting to make me sick."
I shot him a playful glare.
"Well I think we will leave you two love birds alone." Michelle said pulling Kevin's arm to leave.
"Yeah see ya." Kevin yelled from outside the door since Michelle had closed it.
~Chapter 17~
"So.....We are dating now?" I asked as we got closer.
"Well yeah if it's ok with you. If it's not we don't have to but..."
"Brian?" I interrupted. "Shut up and just kiss me already."
"I'd be happy to." we kissed for what seemed like hours.
Finally we pulled apart and just looked into each others eyes.
"This is what I think." I started to say. "No matter how much you deny it, friendship between the opposite sex always leads into more than just friendship. Have you noticed that?"
"Well I hope not." Brian said.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked confused.
"Then you will end up dating the other guys." he said laughing. "It would be pretty funny seeing you with Nick since you never really get along with him."
I lightly smacked his arm. "You know what I mean." I said.
"Yeah I know what ya mean. And I'm glad that it's that way too. We've been through a lot to get here. I hope this lasts." He wrapped his arms around me. It felt so good to be in his arms.
"Yeah me too." I said.
