Chapter 13 Brian walked into the entrance doors of the Marriott and found AJ sitting on a couch in the lobby. “I take it, it didn’t go the way we wanted it to.” AJ said as soon as he saw the sad expression on Brian’s face. “No it didn’t.” he answered. “Well I guess we’re just going to have to try a little harder.” Said AJ as he got up from his chair. “First I’m going to go over there and talk to her. You go wait in the room for me it won’t be more than a half hour tops.” AJ took out the key card from his back pocked and handed it to Brian. “Room 714.” Brian nodded his head and headed toward the elevator as AJ ran out the front door. As Brian stepped into the elevator he noticed a girl, about 15 step inside behind him. He looked at her and then turned away, hoping she wouldn’t recognize him. “Hey Brian.” She said casually as though she had known him for years. “Hi.” He replied. “I’m Abby. I met you almost a year ago. After the Grammy’s.” He studied her face a little more and then remembered her. She had been knocking on rooms in the hotel he was in and finally found the room he and Nick were sharing. That was the night he and Teresa had met. “Yeah I remember you.” He said. He really wasn’t looking for a conversation right now but he kept a smile on his face as though nothing was wrong. Even Abby wasn’t buying it. Before any of them could say a thing the elevator stopped. Only the doors didn’t open. “Oh my god we’re stuck!” she panicked. “I hate elevators! No one’s going to know we’re in here!” ---------- AJ started knocking on the door and realized that it was still open. He slowly pushed it the rest of the way and saw Teresa sitting out on the balcony. “Hey.” He said loud enough for her to hear. “Go away.” She said. “I just want to talk.” He said as he moved closer to the balcony. “AJ I don’t want to talk to anyone right now.” He knew she was crying. By the tone of her voice and because she was telling him to leave. She never told him to leave. He walked the rest of the way to the door and stood there as she tried to wipe her face and try to make it look like she hadn’t been crying. “You told him where I was.” She said. “You betrayed me.” “I didn’t betray you. I was trying to help.” “You don’t need to help with anything I’m just fine!” her voice rose with every word she said. “Then why are you crying if you’re just fine?” Chapter 14 After getting off the emergency phone, Brian turned to Abby who was sitting on the other side of the elevator. “They said it’s going to be almost two hours before they can get us out. The stupid person wouldn’t even give me a reason.” “Great. Just great.” She muttered. Then she looked up at Brian and started to smile. “What am I talking about? I’m stuck in here with a Backstreet Boy what more can I ask for?” Brian let out a soft laugh and sat down on the floor. He started to space but Abby broke him out of it. “What’s wrong?” she asked. “I may not know you very well but frustration and sadness is written all over your face.” “Oh it’s nothing.” He said. He didn’t really want to tell her about his problems. He didn’t ever know the girl and he didn’t want any of it to leek out. ---------- “Why are you doing this to yourself?” AJ asked after about ten minutes of silence. “I know you way too well. And from the look on your face and the way you’ve been snapping at me, I’d have to say that you know you’ve made the wrong decision and you’re very angry at that.” He knew he was right and also knew that she was going to rip his head off for that comment. But to his surprise, she didn’t say a word. Only looked off into space, lost in her own thoughts. AJ knew that he did what he could do and that Brian could only get her to change her mind. So he turned around and walked toward the door and stop once his hand was on the doorknob. Without turning around he said, “If you need me, I’ll be at the Marriott, room 714.” She didn’t answer but he knew she heard him, so he opened the door and walked into the hallway. ---------- After explaining to Abby only parts of his problem with Teresa, that part that was being flung around on TV and in magazines she had given him some advice. “Sing her a song.” She said. “A song from the heart. Girls like that mushy stuff.” He thought about it for a moment. “That may help. Thanks.” He smiled. “No problem.” The elevator started moving up and stopped on the fifth floor and opened. The two quickly scrambled out of there in case they would get stuck again. “Guess they got here quicker than they said.” Brian said. “Thanks for everything and it was nice seeing you again. Why are you here I never asked.” “I’m visiting some relatives and my parents didn’t want to stay on their house.” She answered. “And it was really nice seeing you again. Give the rest of the guys a hug for me.” He gave her a hug and decided to take the stares the rest of the way up, meeting AJ just as he opened the door to the stares. “Hey what are you doing here?” Brian asked. “The elevator’s out of order.” He answered. “I was stuck on it with a fan that found mine and Nick’s room the night of the Grammy’s.” The guys went up the stares and finally made it to room 714 and went inside. AJ closed the door as Brian flipped on the TV. “Well Rok I did all I could. She’s coming around but only you can do the rest. I can’t do everything for you.” Brian walked over to the balcony and walked outside to get some fresh air. He watched all the people frantically run around trying to get to where they were going. Most of them seemed to be in a real hurry. He shifted his gaze toward the hotel that was across from him. He was starting to remember how he and Teresa would sit out there the first week they were together and talk on the phone and look at each other from their rooms. He sighed and then something caught his eye. There she was, seventh floor, two rooms down. She was sitting in a chair with her hands covering her face. He knew that if he wanted to get to her, it wasn’t going to be through just talking to her. And he also knew that she wouldn’t let him back in her room again either. And then it hit him. Something that would get her back in his arms for sure. “AJ I’m going to need your help for one last thing.” “What is it?” he asked. Brian began explaining everything and once he was finished AJ smiled. “That’s good. I’ll do my best.” Then he went for the door and walked out into the hallway to go outside. Chapter 15 Brian grabbed some of the hotel paper and a pen and began writing. The words seemed to flow out very easy. Once he was finished, he read over it and made a few adjustments and then went back to the balcony to see if she was still sitting outside. It was dark outside now, but he could still see her, curled up in her chair. He wished he could see facial features. Then AJ stormed in the room carrying a karioke machine. “This better work it took me two hours to find this thing and then the guy working there almost didn’t let me rent it. I couldn’t really understand him but I think he said something like ‘you’re a tattoo freak’ or something along that line.” Brian tried hard to keep from laughing and succeeded even though he felt like he was going to explode into laughter. “Oh I know what you’re thinking.” AJ said pointing his finger at Brian. “And I don’t like it. Now do you have your part finished or am I going to have to do that for you too?” “Nah I got that finished. There’s one more thing.” AJ groaned. He knew Brian was going to make him go out and get something else for him. ---------- Teresa sat in her chair just thinking about the times she’d been with Brian. Eventually all her thoughts had combined into one big blur and she wasn’t quite sure how long she had been sitting out there. She wouldn’t have noticed if AJ came back to talk to her but she was pretty sure that he didn’t. She didn’t think he would come back after she treated him. She was getting so angry with herself. Then the sound of Brian’s voice startled her and she quickly looked in her room to see if he was there but the room was empty. “Teresa I just need you to hear me out. Maybe this will help a little bit. I’m over here. In the hotel across from you, two rooms down. See me?” She turned around to see him on the balcony talking into what seemed to be a karioke machine. And in his other hand was a red rose. “Ok this goes out to you.” He said. Then he began singing. When I first saw you An angel in my eyes You were everything I thank the lord in the sky For bringing you to me My angel, my friend Who would have thought You would want this to end I’m here on my knees Begging you please Don’t leave me Why can’t you see I love you With all my heart I’ve loved you Right from the start To be complete I need you And I know You need me too Im here on my knees Begging you please Don’t leave me Why can’t you see I love you With all my heart I’ve loved you Right from the start Brian stopped singing and heard cheers from the people who were down on the streets, and from people that were in the two hotels. He saw Teresa run back into her room and he couldn’t see what she was doing. “Hey what happened?” AJ asked Brian as he peaked outside. “She left.” Brian said. “Where did she go?” “I don’t know I can’t see into the room.” They heard even more cheering come from the crowds and Brian looked down and saw someone run from the hotel across the street and into his. “That just has to be her.” He said. Then he handed AJ the microphone and ran out of the room and down the hallway and to the staircase and there she was, running up the stairs and they met at the fourth floor. “I’m so sorry Brian.” Teresa said. “I was scared. You deserve someone so much better than me. I’ve hurt you so much.” She began to cry again. He slowly put his arms around her, not sure of what she would do. She stayed where she was and he moved in all the way. Her arms eventually slipped around his waist and sobbed. “I want you.” He whispered into her ear. “I love you.” “I love you too Brian. I’m so sorry I told you I didn’t. I’ve been so stupid.” Brian pulled away from her just enough to see her face. She finally let him look into her eyes and then he slowly closed the gap between them and kissed her. “Hey you two get a room.” AJ’s voiced echoed down the stairs. Brian and Teresa looked up and saw him on the seventh floor, looking down on them, with a big smile. “It’s nice to see you’re finally back together.” He paused for a minute. “And of course, it’s all because of my help.” Teresa and Brian looked at each other and rolled their eyes. They kissed each other one more time before they made their way up the rest of the stairs to where AJ was standing. “I’m sorry I acted like that toward you.” Teresa apologized. “I shouldn’t have done that.” “Hey no hard feelings. All I ask for is a hug.” Teresa smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled him into a hug. “Well I guess I never told you guys my news.” AJ began. Teresa pulled away and made her way back to Brian. “What news?” Teresa asked. “Why don’t we do this back in the room.” Said AJ. They other two agreed and they walked out into the hallway and back to AJ and Brian’s room. “Ok spill it.” Said Teresa. “Well Whitney and I are getting married.” “You’re kidding me.” Brian said disbelieving him. “No I swear to God we’re engaged. I would have told you sooner but well, all this was going on and I didn’t think this was the right time.” “Well congratulations!” Teresa exclaimed and gave him another hug. “Yeah congratulations man you’ve finally found the right girl.” Brian said and gave AJ a quick hug. “We aren’t going to get married any time real soon. We just know that it’s going to happen. And if things go the way we want them to…..” he paused for a moment. “What is it?” Teresa asked. “Hopefully it will be a double wedding.” AJ answered with a sly smile. “Oh I know exactly what you’re talking about and I don’t see that happening for a long time.” Brian said while wrapping his harm around Teresa’s waist. “Yeah Brian and I are working on being able to stay together. I don’t think marriage is going to help the situation.” Teresa added. They all continued to talk until the small hours of the morning and eventually they all drifted off to sleep. Once Teresa’s tour kicked off again, she left Brian assuring him that she would tell him if something was wrong although she knew nothing would be wrong as long as she had him by her side. After the tour was over she went back to Orlando and decided to stay there for a few months just to see if things would go smoothly between them and they did. After a month she decided that she’d much rather live in Orlando and moved down there, still keeping her old house as a getaway. AJ and Whitney decided to wait a little while longer before they got married. They felt that they were both still young, and liked the fact that they weren’t married yet, but were going to be and that was enough for them at the moment. They just wanted to wait for the right timing. The Backstreet Boys recorded their new album and was released about five months after Brian and Teresa had gotten back together and broke almost every record in the book and even got that Grammy that they were hoping for, for best pop song. The tabloids didn’t bash Teresa as hard as it did before and she learned not to pay attention to them anymore because they were completely untrue and no one really seemed to be paying attention to them in the first place. About one year later, Brian proposed to Teresa while they were in the Bahamas and she happily accepted. After another year of planning, the couple was married along with AJ and Whitney on the same day and threw one hell of a party afterwards that lasted all night long. AJ and Whitney are now expecting a baby girl who they’re going to name Alexa Marie, and the word’s out that Teresa and Brian are expecting Twins, two boys named , Colin Thomas and Nathan James.
