Planning
and organizing has been in Marti’s blood since her youth. Harbor classmates may remember that she
co-chaired their junior prom. Marti has since parlayed her organizational and marketing skills
into a business called WordCrafters,
where she offers business-to-business writing, website design, and event
planning services in the Bolingbrook, Illinois area, outside of Chicago. |

Leslie
lives in Manassas, Virginia, just outside of our nation’s capital, when she’s
not living out of a suitcase traveling for the FAA. With her award-winning
leadership skills and travel experience, she is not only well-qualified to
co-chair this once-in-a-lifetime event, but she can also take the hassle out
of making your travel arrangements to get there! Find out more about Leslie by visiting her Home Page. |

The History After years of friendship starting at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School in 1961 and continuing through high school at Harbor, Marti McMillan and Leslie Sommer lost touch after graduation in 1970, when they each pursued their individual life paths. For
Leslie, it was college, then the Air Force, followed by a new career in the
FAA. Along the way she married and
had a son, and started a sideline business as a travel agent. For
Marti, it was college, then marriage and family, interspersed with a
professional life that included teaching, business, and entrepreneurship. Over
the years, they kept track of each other’s lives through a third Harbor grad
and mutual friend, Cyndi Dorman (now Bell), who continued to be in touch with
them both. Their Class of 1970 reunion in 1995 brought Marti and
Leslie together again. It was there
that their friendship was renewed, and they have remained in touch ever
since. |

The Reunion
It
was Leslie who discovered ClassMates.com and invited Marti to sign on. Through the message boards, with all the
fond memories and great stories that were shared there, a spark of interest
was ignited among the participants for some kind of reunion. Like Topsy, the idea “just growed”! Leslie volunteered to maintain a contact
list, and Marti volunteered to create a website, and suddenly they became
co-chairmen! The rest, as they say,
is history…. |
