Logs to lumber, Sawmilling on your location. It's time to stop wasting valuable timber. Once upon a time the people of Kansas used all types of lumber for all type of things. When Pine became cheaper to buy then local lumber, the local sawmills just faded away. Well times have changed. BACK! With the cost of fuel and the distance to Kansas from the large forests of Colorado or Canada Pine is no longer cheap. My task at hand it to reeducate people about the local timber. The first thing one needs to do is to stop thinking of timber as its firewood value. Kansas has more timber then you think. And a lot of it is going to waste everyday. My mission is green. Waste not want not. That Picture to the left is of a free white Ash log. It rendered 150 board ft. once dried that lumber is worth $3 a board foot in the rough cut form. It will need to be planed later, and when it's done. That same lumber is $6 a board foot or more in the lumber yard. Oak sales for almost $7 a board foot in the lumberyard. Black Walnut is the same. After seeing Black Walnut & Oak, plus all kinds of good timber? Bull dosed over and piled up and burned by road constructions and power lines going through, 50 year old windbreaks and timber belts. Something has to be done to stop this waste. Portable small sawmills, is the answer. Now I see the beauty and uses in all types of timber. If you are a hobbyist who wants to start from scratch and cut cost of your lumber bill or need extra income. Contact me for more information about having some milling done or owning a sawmill. If you own a sawmill, (The Logs Will Come! ) I do not fall trees but I do buy logs, So hang onto that log, It won't go bad and you may be amazed at what you have once it is milled. |
